It looks like The Jetsons might be headed back to the small screen. TVLine reports Warner Bros. is developing a live-action TV show based on the classic series.
From Hanna-Barbera, the animated show follows a family living in a future filled with advanced technology like flying cars, holograms, and robots. The original series ran from 1962 to 1963 and was then briefly revived for syndication in the mid-1980s.
Though Warner Bros. has not officially confirmed the news, the studio has reportedly hired Family Guy EP Gary Janetti to develop the new live-action Jetsons. Few details have been released, but Warner Bros. will begin shopping the sitcom to networks soon.
Earlier, we reported that Warner Bros. was developing a Jetsons feature film. No word yet on whether that project is still in the works or not.
What do you think? Are you a fan of The Jetsons? Would you watch the live-action sitcom?
A Live version of the Jetsons would be off the charts!!! Even in a form of a movie… I still remember how incredible John Goodman was as Fred Flintstone when they released the movie in 1994… If I were one of the execs, I’d actually work to sell BOTH programs as live series. They would both go incredibly well…
Oh, right! I can’t wait to see this new Jetsons live-action TV sitcom. I also can’t wait to see another animated film being made by Warner Bros. I hope Hanna-Barbera will still let Universal make their own live-action movie version of The Jetsons. Because I’ve been waiting for this to happen all those years and I was looking forward to it.
Right. FAMILY GUY meets THE JETSONS. Sounds like a GREAT idea. Right.
This is a horrible idea.
We want THE JETSONS
