A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Please keep it!! Lucifer is an incredibly witty and funny show, wonderfully acted and I love the plot line!! Best new show in a long time!!
Keep it!!! Amazing show!!
Keep it. It’s my favorite network tv show!
Love the show, fun and flip!
I was hesitant at first with this show, but the more I began watching, the more I understood the premise of it. Lucifer is not beyond redemption, which is a nice concept to think on if you’re not a bible thumping idiot with a close mind. Keep the show, and please renew for Season 2! Those that have a solid faith shouldn’t have any issue with a fictional TV show.
Keep the show!!! I enjoy the humor. The shows wrongfully depicts a religious view of lucifer, and the the point being?…
It’s fiction!!!!
One million moms complaining about an adult show, if your not a fan that’s okay!!! Change the Chanel!!! I coule literally hit facts on fact about this, but I will voice my vote to keep the show airing. My friends and I have a girls night at my house, where we all get together to watch the show.
I agree with you, One Million Moms is out of control. They don’t need to watch the show if they don’t like it!!!! There is a list of movies made about the bible they could watch. I am religious too but I love “lucifer” the show.!!!!!!
Please please please please please please please please please please please please please KEEP LUCIFER on for an season.
Please keep it. I get tired of the usual police procedural shows and this is a fantastic blend of supernatural and drama, with a healthy dose of humor.
