A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
we live in the 21. century, but still some freaks does not. church want the show cancelled, why? don’t you get it, its only a show? i can remember that the church also wanted Harry Potter out of the market. so why dont u guys jump in a time maschine and go back to 11 century so that you can burn people, books and scientist. dont forget to burn your doctors, because the learned on death people. I know its a funny show and i want it renewed for a second season. We all know this is not the real… Read more »
This show is a masterpiece RENEW PLEASE !!!
Lucifer…..more, please. Didn’t read the comic book. Don’t care who thinks the morality of their children will be adversely affected. That’s what Parental Controls are for. My husband actually stays awake for Lucifer and we both enjoy the wit. The one-liners tickle me like classic British movie lines. Enjoy the music and the eye candy. Lucifer is a fun show. Keep more episodes coming!
This is one of the best TV shows on and should definitely earn a 2nd season. Tom Ellis is a talented character who portrays the many layers of Lucifer with skill and complexity. As for offending the religious, I recommended the show to a friend who is an Episcopal priest and she loves it!
This is by far one of the best scripted shows on TV. I missed the first few episodes and am going crazy trying to find them. On Demand only goes back to episode 3. I suggested the show to a friend who’s an Episcopal priest and she loves it too. Tom Ellis is absolutely sensational with the ability to portray a complex character with subtlety (or not depending on the need).
You can get them on Amazon.com. I missed the second episode because I didn’t know anything about the show until it was on the 3rd episode. They were showing the pilot again, but I had to go to Amazon to get the second episode.
You would think they would promote a new show, but I haven’t seen it promoted at all. I found about it from my sister when she got her new tv guide and showed it to me.
great serie keep plz
I love this show. It does what you want a show to do entertain! It has action, humor, and a lesson in each episode. Why does every show have to be a reality show? Let’s have some imagination!
Lucifer is the best new show on TV
It has drama and a unique sense of humor
DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!
It makes our family look forward to Monday nights
Lorrie, Ken and Jennifer Cooper
My family and I LOVE this show!! We dvr it to make sure we don’t miss an episode. I am a Christian and find this show hilarious! ! It brings a lot of laughter in our home. You need to watch this series and give it a chance. Only those who are not secure in their faith would find this show “offensive”. I, for one, don’t. I can answer all the faith questions one might have to watching this show as a way of even teaching someone on the Old Testament and into the New Testament without a hitch.
Well, of course the show should have a second season. The only problem I have seen with the show is that Lucifer is becoming too human. Get the Devil back to his evil self. That will boost the ratings.
I enjoy the show. It is a very open and honest portrayal of adult behavior. I like Lucifer’s conflict over being true to his nature and learning a new skill – compassion. I have enjoyed the lessons he is being taught and have found meaning for me in those same lessons. So what if One Million Moms does not like this; they do not have to watch it.
This is one of the best shows this season! Love the characters, and the story line.
Please renew it!
KEEP IT!!!! I actually look forward to Mondays because of this show!
It is my Dexter replacement!
My daughter and I love the show and will be telling others to watch it. Please renew! Characters are engaging, writing is funny and irreverent. Yes, we’re Christians, but we have to be able to laugh at ourselves too. The inside bible references are clever and interesting.
I am a Christian, so at first I was totally opposed to the show. However, being open minded and not judgemental, I watched the pilot. I WAS HOOKED! The show is well written, has crime, supernatural, romantic twists, relational aspects showing different relation problems and also has the main underlying religious aspect of God vs evil. I watch every week changing my schedule. The only TV show besides Packer football I make time to watch!!!!
