Though the ratings could be better, NBC doesn’t want to break up with their new sitcom Marry Me. The peacock network has ordered five additional episodes, bringing the first season tally to 18 installments.
On the Marry Me sitcom, easy-going Jake (Ken Marino) and high-strung Annie (Casey Wilson) have been together for six years. They’re ready to be married but their road to the altar is anything but smooth. The rest of the cast includes Sarah Wright Olsen, John Gemberling, Tymberlee Hill, and Tim Meadows.
On October 14th, Marry Me debuted to a 2.3 rating with 7.54 million viewers. It was a positive start for the sitcom, likely due in part to airing after NBC’s biggest series, The Voice. The ratings have been falling ever since however. Last night’s episode hit a new low with a 1.3 demo rating and 4.54 million.
It is however NBC’s most successful new comedy. The other two — A to Z and Bad Judge — won’t continue past their initial 13 episode orders so they’ve already been essentially cancelled.
What do you think? Have you been watching Marry Me on Tuesday nights? Will you keep watching?
I actually like both this show and “From A to Z”. Watched both each week, mostly online. Was really upset that ” A to Z” was canned. That show is wholesome and very well setup. “Marry Me” is also well setup but deals a bit more into the raunchiness that most shows today seem to think they need to attract viewers. But it is different in the fact that all the characters are very likable and each brings a different personality to the show. I like Anne the best. She’s loud, spasmodic and goes off the rails a bit. I won’t be watching….NBC hyped this show so much.. I really got sick of the commercials for it. I tried watching it 2 times and couldn’t stay with it beyond the first commercial. The story lines seem silly to me. The acting is so so… Sorry I just didn’t care for the show.
We watch it and think it is funny.
The acting is a little overdone but would like to see it continued
This show is funny as hell!!!!!
Yep, and just like hell it’s not very funny. 😉
I think the show is cute and will continue watching it.
I love the chemistry of the main characters. I also would like to have seen A to Z & Bad Judge continue just as I would like to see Marry Me continue. Hmmmm, maybe we need to cancel the network instead??
REALLY?!?! This show is STUPID compared to A-Z which was canceled. Why watch two obviously incompatible loud (and foul) mouth people try to force a relationship instead of two perfectly matched people that have great story lines with witty writing?
I don’t see it. Bring back A-Z, give it a different opening that gets your attention (without the 18 month deadline that sounds like failure), and drop this yell-fest called Marry Me.
Looks like Marry Me should be doomed after its 18-episode run and it should lose more audience without a Voice lead-in like it did with Go On that starred Matthew Perry.
