We know Neil Patrick Harris likes the finale of How I Met Your Mother, but what about his co-stars? Recently, Alyson Hannigan spoke with news.com.au about the controversial last episode of the CBS TV show.
Hannigan played Lily Aldrin on the ensemble sitcom, which ran from 2005 to 2014. The cast also included Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie Smulders, Josh Radnor, and Jason Segel.
Speaking to the Australian news outlet, Hannigan expressed some frustration over the final episode of How I Met Your Mother:
I didn’t think Barney should have ever gotten married. … I liked Barney and Robin. But in my heart, I always wanted her with Ted. I just feel they [Barney and Robin] shouldn’t have gotten married.”
Later, she also revealed that a lot was cut from the CBS series finale:
I was bummed they didn’t just make it a two-hour season-ender, so they would get to show certain parts [that were cut]. … The table read for the finale was so good, so right, but it was also like 14 hours long. … So when I actually saw the final version of the show, I was like ‘they cut out everything!’”
And what was cut? Hannigan said:
There was a funeral scene [that got cut], and all this stuff that I think the audience needed. They needed that time to process that information, instead of having it slap them in the face.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of How I Met Your Mother? Did you like the series finale?
OMG, R people STILL talking about this show? Who cares? A lot of shows had a terrible last episode… like CHEERS. So give it a rest.
For nine years we stood behind Ted in his lifelong quest to find the mother. Killing her off was like the biggest slap in the face to HIMYM fans you could ever imagine. It actually ruined the show for me and as much of a fan I was previously, I rarely watch the reruns. So bad was the decision to take the show in that direction, I’m convinced that’s what sealed the fate of How I Met Your Dad.
I agree. It was disappointing.
The last episode was a disappointment. Also, Barney and Robin married it made no sense to me. All the years that I watched the show, the end was a snooze.
