Sounds like there’s some trouble over at the Braverman house. Deadline reports that the show may be cancelled over salary and cost-cutting measures.
Airing on NBC since 2010, Parenthood revolves around the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The ensemble cast includes Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Tyree Brown, Joy Bryant, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Xolo Mariduena, Mae Whitman, with Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.
Word is that NBC wants to renew the show for a final season of 13 episodes. To cut costs, the network/studio has asked the large cast to reduce their episode guarantee from 13 to nine episodes. That would mean that they’d potentially only appear in and be paid for nine installments.
Reportedly, they don’t want to do that and the cast and studio are at an impasse. If a deal isn’t reached today, the episode that aired on April 17th may be Parenthood’s defacto series finale.
What do you think? Are you hoping that Parenthood returns for one final season? Would you be okay with everyone not appearing in every episode?
please please please one more year of Parenthood!!! Would love just one more year! Its a favorite in our home.
Please come back for another season then u can cancel it lol I wanna know whoes pregnant
It would be a mistake for nbc to cancel such a wonderful, inspirational family show. Maybe if they prompted the wonderful acting and social stories explored the ratings would be higher.
I have watched every episode since the show began. However, I have had to fast forward when some characters are on. Every since Drew became a regular, he has been absolutely cringe-worthy. I can’t imagine any girl being interested in him. His story line was awful. Before Crosby and Jasmine got married, she was also dreadful and whiney. Her character has had less air time lately and has become more family-oriented, so I can almost stand her. All of the story lines have been sucked dry. It is time to go. R.I.P.
PARENTHOOD should have made Drew gay instead of Haddie. Miles Heiser would have been so believable. We could have watched Drew fall in love with Berto, who always seemed to be touching him — i.e., see it as it actually happened — instead of having Haddie come home and be like, oh, Lauren’s my girlfriend.
Katims must have missed school the month they concentrated on “show, don’t tell” in his Dramatic Writing class.
* unless the season 6 ratings are tremendously good
I have only three shows that I really care about and this is my #1 what about a finale season with 13 episodes, unless the season 6 episodes are tremendously good
you could see this coming. and the finale did a good job wrapping up the show. either way it goes i’m good.
Of course a quality show with quality actors and real life emotions is on the chopping block!!! To get rid of a great show like this is just another disappointment in the television lineup filled with reality shows and crappy filler shows. Please renew the only show I look forward to!
What a shame to cancel Parenthood…This is an incredible show…Excellent actors and beautifully written scripts…This should be really thought out…If the cast wants more money, I say pay them…They are worth it!!!
Please, please renew…the world needs the Bravermans!!!! LOVE that show!!!!!!!!
I love Parenthood and have watched every show since the first season. Fingers crossed they get another season.
Omg! You’re freaking killing me! I love Parenthood! That’s one of my absolute favorites! So many of our favorite shows are getting cancelled. I can’t take it!
OMG. If they keep cancelling all of the good TV shows and leaving crap on I will have nothing to watch!! Every single season they make new shows but then you get interested and well… to dam bad. Cancelled.
NBC is the worst with it! Get you hooked and after a couple seasons (if that), they cancel! No more reality shows! I am so sick of the Kardasian’s. This is a quality show. Keep it on!
One less show I’ll have to watch. No conflict with Scandal.
There are no new network shows I’ve read about that I want to watch in the fall. My only new show this year was late starter Chicago PD. Network TV makes it so hard to watch network TV.
I really have enjoyed this show. I hope everything can be worked out. If not at least it made it 5 seasons, but I feel this dispute is caused by NBC having a lack of respect for another family oriented show.
