Last season, Person of Interest moved to Tuesday nights and lost Taraji P. Henson. The show also lost a lot in the ratings. Will the numbers continue to fall or will they rise with a new lead-in? Is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fifth season by CBS (because of syndication) or, could it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Person of Interest has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. Will it be the end?

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The third season of Person of Interest averaged a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.83 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fifth season?
This has been a great show, and I hate that you keep shows like Madame Secretary but cancel this show. I’ll be watching NBC’s Blindspot since you decided to get rid of tone of your only good suspense show . Only issue I had was why does almost every show on TV now think they need to have a gay couple of some sorts. You would swear that there were more gays out there than straights, I don’t care but you just had to ruin a good thing and make some kind of LBGT statement. Can we leave politics out… Read more »
if that is all you saw > then maybe you really don’t care to watch it. It is , Part of everyday life here and has been for quite a while. The control statement is what is important here…. A. I . is what is important here and the human interaction.
Person of Interest should be renewed for a full 5 and 6th season cbs is silly for cancelling this great show. I hope another channel will pick it up.
This was the Best show on TV!! I watched it every time it was on, and the reruns. Now I only watch CBS, for The Big Bang Theory. I do watch WGN channel, because they have Person of Interest on. CBS used to be the best station. Not any more! They ruined the station with shows like Super girl and some show about a guy who swallows a pill and gets really smart? They had this really great show, POI, then they ruin the really great show, by moving it to different times, and days, then one day it’s just… Read more »
We think they should put it back on the air
I don’t get it. Maybe the ratings were worse than before (but honestly, they usually tend to drop when you change a procedural into a continuous arc plus the moving it around didn’t help either) but they’re still good! Over 8 mil viewers even with the lowest 1.1 demographic seems great to me. People don’t watch shows on tv as much as they used to. I feel like that cancelation was a mistake :/
It’s sad when a show so good and well thought out gets thrown in the gutter in favor of shows that really belongs there like “2 Broke Girls” and “The Big Bang Theory”. These shows give zero thought to any kind of substantial plot and demonstrate why “Beavis and Butthead” somehow managed to make its way into popular culture.
Person of Interest was the beast show in television. I’m outraged this show has been cancelled. I can only hope another network will pick it up? I even love the re-reruns on WGN. This show had everything… great acting, scripts, drama, action, etc, etc. What a shame!! Limitless if ok but doesn’t even compare to POI. If fact I’ve decided to boycott it and everything else CBS is showing because of this cancellation.
I MIGHT watch the S5 scraps if ROOT dies very early on! Nothing about her is appealing.
AnonyMouse, I’m watching Season 5 now, and am getting so very angry with what I’m seeing, especially when it comes to the Root storyline (the storyline is just way too fanatical for me). This really could have been handled better but I’m just not feeling it, while also asking myself (Please forgive me for this?) why does it seem as if just about all the black characters going forward, have NOTHING positive to contribute to this team, except for ‘maybe’ the last character? Hope this drastically changes before this goes off the air.
I “love” this show. This is indeed one of the better and clever show in recent TV history. I only got to watch this show on Netflix this year. Unlike many other TV shows which have lots of promo (e.g. CSI, Blacklist and Scandal, there are just non-stop advert about these shows on TV), I only heard about POI from a friend of mine this year and managed to catch it on Netflix in recent months. I agreed with CraftY that the development of the characters is one of the great things about the show. I too hope there are… Read more »
While the show was interesting in the beginning when they were saving people from the bad guys, you have to be brain dead to think you could do that forever without becoming totally boring (reason why I don’t watch CSI and the rest of that ilk). I also was sorry to see Carter go, but she had to go so that the show could move on. The problem is the with the advent of the other super computer, the show for me became closer to reality – I was in the computer field my entire life and still am in… Read more »
The developement of the characters is one of the great things about that show. I plays with your emotions. I didn´t like Shaw and Root at the beginning. But the main theme (the machine, Reese and Finch) kept me in the show and over the season especially Root became one of my favourite characters. I don´t understand all the people going ham, because Carter died. She was a good character, but for me, never the character who let me keep watching the show. Everyone who just watched the show, because of her in it, doesn´t get the show, how it… Read more »
Unfortunately, numbers DO matter and right now Person of Interest needs all the viewers it can get. Right now CBS won’t even commit to a exact for the season five premiere, so discouraging and attacking viewers seems a little counterproductive.
An exact date
Attacking viewers ? It doesn´t matter, because somone who is not watching the show because of Carters death is no viewer. Carters death had to happen, because her story was over. Her character would have been useless the moment HR was shut down, so she died with that story line. Everything what happend after that, would contradict to what Carters character was designed for. Carter stood for the “good” and “honest” side, and what had to be done in further season would have totally shut that down. With Shaw and Root there are two badass woman, and there is no… Read more »
CraftY, “someone who is not watching the show because if Carter’s death is not a viewer”??
Can ‘you’ clarify’ this please? What about those who’ve tried to return in spite of her death, but didn’t like what they saw? Would they still be labeled a non viewer???
CraftY, ‘Going ham’, well perhaps because of what Carter’s character stood for, and the fact that they got to see someone like themselves on the screen, doing such an excellent job? The fact that some folks can’t seem to understand this shows just how far we’ve come thus far, and how much further we NEED to go.
Please,PLEASE, keep this show going for several more seasons. There are few too many shows with the quality and ability to hold the attention and interest of the storyline and the characters like this. I watch this show on each channel and every time slot it comes on. I do not have Hulu or other subscription networks, so PLEASE keep it going on WGN America and any other cable channel for several seasons. Thank you for good value entertainment.
the shows start to become science fiction and unrealistic when you have two woman with knock out power and special forces skills. ITS complete B.S. I don’t know why Hollywood is intent on making woman into something there not.
This is such a great show -for smart people. Too bad they’re canceling due to too many people not getting it. And too bad those folks are more important than smart folks or taking a stand on good programming.
I enjoyed this show for the first three seasons then you brought in the Samaritan characters for the fourth season and turned it into a must watch or you won’t know what happening type of series. Keep it simple to the point and bring in new stories for each episode and it will become a hit show again. I miss Taraji Henson (Carter) too. She should be brought back in to play her character as Detective Carter once more because I feel that Kevin Chapman (Fusco) is feeling the pain of missing his partner in crime. Let’s just say she… Read more »
