Annie Bello won’t get to fight for new causes in the 2021-22 television season. ABC has cancelled the Rebel TV series so there won’t be a second year.
A drama, the Rebel TV show is inspired by the life of activist Erin Brockovich today and stars Katey Sagal, John Corbett, James Lesure, Lex Scott Davis, Tamala Jones, Ariela Barer, Kevin Zegers, Sam Palladio, and Andy Garcia. Annie “Rebel” Bello (Sagal) is a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant, and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Rebel averages a 0.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.23 million viewers in the live+same day ratings.
The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The series follows Grey’s Anatomy on the schedule but performs poorly in the ratings and loses a lot of its lead-in audience. It’s one of the lowest-rated freshman series on the network this season.

I AM NOT HAPPY AT THIS SHOW BEING CANCELED! THOSE OF US THAT LOVE THE SHOW REBEL ARE NOT HAPPY AT ALL! THERE SHOULD BE A SECOND SEASON EVEN IF WE COULD GET IT NOT ON ABC BUT OFFLINE YOUTUBE OR SOMEWHERE I DON’T KNOW. ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT SHOULDN’T BE CANCELED OR AT LEAST MOVE IT TO SOMEWHERE ELSE WHERE WE COULD SEE IT.
Really disappointed in this announcement. Enjoyed this show – something a little different and loved seeing Andy Garcia and John Corbett.
ABC canceling Rebel is a horrible network decision. They just didn’t give the show enough time to gain the audience’s attention. It seems ABC has renewed Big Sky, a dreadful show, featuring psychological and physical torture of it’s main characters. Simply put, a Montana truck driver kidnaps and tortures teenage girls to bring them to a sex trafficking network in Canada. Along the way, this guy brutally murders characters who get in his way, including his own mother and a priest. I LOVE the show Rebel! I make sure to watch it every week and this news is very Disappointing to me! Why cancel it? Why not choose a different tine slot or sell it to another network. I’m going to miss this show!
I’m extremely disappointed that ABC cancelled Rebel. It was one of the only shows my husband and I watched together. We watch it, on demand, every Saturday. Everyone that we know who watches it, loves it also. I would check your numbers again.
I really enjoyed this show and have looked forward to Thursday nights now that ABC has cancelled the 2022 series I will go back to watching Fox News on the fox channell

So upset with this decision- Rebel is a great show for us “older people”. How can we get it back on or at least on another network!! I don’t think they have it a fair chance.

Soooooooooooo disappointed this show was canceled! Why? Why? Why? There are other shows I’d rather see canceled than this one. I love everything about this show. Kately (Peg Bundy … lol!), Tamala, Garcia, Corbett (Aidan … SATC, loved him). A very good cast and a great storyline. Drama mixed with comedy, love this. Please find another network or streaming service to pick this up!!

HUGELY disappointed at the cancellation of Rebel. AMAZING cast, really compelling storyline. I convinced my neighbor to give it a try — she hates EVERYTHING and she LOVED this show. I REALLY hope they find another network or cable/streaming channel to pick this up. One of the highlights of the new season.
Loved Rebel! So sorry about the cancellation. They should have given the show more than 5 episodes that were aired before cancellation!
Hate that this was canceled! It’s one of my new favorite shows! Unfortunately, I’m at work on Thursday nights, so I watch it on Hulu usually the next day. Does anyone track that for ratings?!
These days all main networks take delayed viewership and even streaming service views into account, so I believe Hulu viewership would’ve been taken into account by ABC prior to the decision. ABC tends to be more lenient than the other networks, so I’m shocked to see this drama canceled just a couple episodes in.
Cable is going to be gone by end of year. I just cancelled watch each EPs and have Hulu which it is doing great. Simply something that has true life meaning doesn’t show sex trafficking killing at every Conner. Soon these Networks will have a rude awaking.

I am so disappointed to hear that Rebel will be cancelled after only one season! I love this show … it’s one of the best I’ve seen in years! ABC please reconsider!!!
