Annie Bello won’t get to fight for new causes in the 2021-22 television season. ABC has cancelled the Rebel TV series so there won’t be a second year.
A drama, the Rebel TV show is inspired by the life of activist Erin Brockovich today and stars Katey Sagal, John Corbett, James Lesure, Lex Scott Davis, Tamala Jones, Ariela Barer, Kevin Zegers, Sam Palladio, and Andy Garcia. Annie “Rebel” Bello (Sagal) is a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant, and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Rebel averages a 0.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.23 million viewers in the live+same day ratings.
The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The series follows Grey’s Anatomy on the schedule but performs poorly in the ratings and loses a lot of its lead-in audience. It’s one of the lowest-rated freshman series on the network this season.

We really enjoyed this show. The cast is amazing and the show is well written. It doesn’t make sense to cancel it just because it didn’t play well with 18 to 49 yr old. There are many more in different age brackets that like shows like this. Shame on you ABC.

As always, a good scripted show with a great cast doesn’t get renewed. With covid destroying the past year or so of tv shows, this new show was a welcomed tv series. I’m very disappointed that it was never really given a chance. Makes me not want to invest my time in any series.
This show is awesome! The first episode I watched made me think of Erin Brockovich! Now I know it’s based on that……. Why in the world would the network cancel a show like this! I can’t stay up to watch my shows so I DVR them, so because my TV isn’t Tuned in when it’s on doesn’t help the ratings??? I think the network needs to reevaluate how they score their ratings
Here we go again another show that I like but obviously the 18 to 49 year old age group again causes a cancellation of a show with great actors. All of them of been around a while and all of them are great. What the heck is wrong with TV is it going to just one day be a bunch of stupid reality shows?
I really enjoyed the show. Great cast and very different. I don’t know why shows are canceled after only a few episodes. ABC should give it a chance. Very disappointed.
I agree with so many others. Rebel is a quality show and great storylines. I like it better each week. Surprised it is being cancelled. Yes it follows greys anatomy but some of the GA shows have been reruns which doesn’t help.
I think it sucks to cancel Rebel. I loved it. I am disappointed in them canceling it. Shame.
This is ridiculous. This is a great show. They probably just want to squeeze in another stupid reality show like the Bachelor or something. They never give a show a chance to get going. All shows have a slow start but this one has been kick butt from the start. Friggin idiots!
5 episodes and no chance to build a following. Run it over the summer and give it a chance!

Oh, I am UPSET! Rebel is such a GREAT show. The cast, storylines, everything. I hope a cable channel picks it up.
And as for American Housewife? I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this show and I am beyond upset that it was cancelled. The cast is terrific, the humor, the storylines, the lessons in family love. Everything that a good family sitcom should be.
Yet The Connors stays? Just Wrong!
Rebel is one of the best series I have seen in along time! The acting is superb. The story is just the shot in the arm we need after such a depressing year. A message of hope…that the good guys are still out there, winning.
It really stinks that this show is not going to renew. Such disappointment.
