Annie Bello won’t get to fight for new causes in the 2021-22 television season. ABC has cancelled the Rebel TV series so there won’t be a second year.
A drama, the Rebel TV show is inspired by the life of activist Erin Brockovich today and stars Katey Sagal, John Corbett, James Lesure, Lex Scott Davis, Tamala Jones, Ariela Barer, Kevin Zegers, Sam Palladio, and Andy Garcia. Annie “Rebel” Bello (Sagal) is a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant, and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Rebel averages a 0.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.23 million viewers in the live+same day ratings.
The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The series follows Grey’s Anatomy on the schedule but performs poorly in the ratings and loses a lot of its lead-in audience. It’s one of the lowest-rated freshman series on the network this season.

Really disappointed that Rebel is not being renewed. We really enjoyed it something different then your typical, drama series. They have dozens of medical shows, 911 and dumb comedy shows
I’m so disappointed in the all the networks.
Keep canceling really good shows i just don’t understand it. They keep really crappy shows. Really sick of more stupid game shows and animation.
They talk ratings where do they get their numbers??? CBS socks because their so greedy as not to have shows on demand networks so I guess people turn to them against good other networks shows.
Yet they keep Tyra banks so I’ve quit watching dots and only watch the dancing clips.

I am so disappointed but not surprised. An entertaining show featuring a 50 ish women (and men) as sexy and fun and feisty without being a joke. There is nothing for 50+ demographic to enjoy and relate to or envision themselves as vibrant, active citizens … other than labelled senior!!!
Guess they didn’t think Katey Segal still had it in her to cast in another leading role like one of her other famous shows that lasted YEARS!! Clearly greys anatomy’s like a damn soap opera so maybe put the show far away from that! I agree 1 season and 5 episodes is not enough to cut the cord on this!! Great cast-great backbone-true ****! I Love this show! I don’t watch much tv.., nothing good to watch. I just happened to find Rebel and I love it.., DVR set to record. I pray another network picks it up!
Seriously another great cancelled ??!! Why ???? It was truly a great show with brilliant actors very very disappointed once again…
DVR timer (Thurs 10pm ABC) now deleted. What’s the point of continuing to watch?
I am highly disappointed to see Rebel get cancelled. I think Katey makes a great Rebel. They’ve got a great cast. Only a few episodes shouldn’t be able to make or break an episode.
I am Sorry that Rebel is being cancelled. It was fun, and so many great actors were in it too. (It was like a blast from the past decent TV shows, e.g., Northern Exposure, Sex and the City and Hill Street Blues.) I liked the writing, maybe a bit corny, but what the hey, it had great parts for women, and their causes were legitimate and lots of humor, which is part of life, and we need it! Bring it back.
I was skeptical at first because I’m not a big fan of Katy Segal but with all the other well know actors and the fast moving script I thought It actually had a chance. Maybe another network might pick it up. I can onlyhope.
