Annie Bello won’t get to fight for new causes in the 2021-22 television season. ABC has cancelled the Rebel TV series so there won’t be a second year.
A drama, the Rebel TV show is inspired by the life of activist Erin Brockovich today and stars Katey Sagal, John Corbett, James Lesure, Lex Scott Davis, Tamala Jones, Ariela Barer, Kevin Zegers, Sam Palladio, and Andy Garcia. Annie “Rebel” Bello (Sagal) is a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant, and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Rebel averages a 0.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.23 million viewers in the live+same day ratings.
The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The series follows Grey’s Anatomy on the schedule but performs poorly in the ratings and loses a lot of its lead-in audience. It’s one of the lowest-rated freshman series on the network this season.

So TYPICAL of the ABC network!! I love REBEL’s Spitfire and the storyline. Hopefully one of the other networks pick up this series.

I hate that it’s been cancelled; it’s really turned out to be quite interesting.
What is ABC thinking? REBEL is the best program on TV. How and why should this be cancelled after just 5 shows. Is there something else behind this cancellation that ABC is not stating. Makes me wonder. BIG MISTAKE ABC!
Here we go .. another decent TV show cancelled.. let’s see maybe do another bs reality or game show…thanx 6abc. Hopefully will be picked up by another network

Would be nice if they have a backup plan to move to one of the streaming services.
Another one bites the dust. Mom, NCIS New Orleans, American Housewife, Rebel I can go on…them and their 18 to 49 crap. Older people watch TV too. They all make me ill.
I am very disappointed that Rebel is cancelled. It is a very good show, very enjoyable. What’s wrong with those jerks at ABC? How do we the fans rally around Rebel to keep it on? When Longmire was cancelled we managed to keep it on Netflix by banding together and raising a ruckus. They never really gave it a chance. Can’t they try it in a different time slot instead of cancelling it. There must be more going on than the time issue.

I am really mad that Rebel is being canceled Its only been on a few weeks and I love it. Thanks a lot ABC for being my least favorite network.
I am very upset about the news of canceling the show Rebel. It is one of the great shows I enjoy and gets canceled. Very disappointed.
Another good show being canceled without it being given a real shot.. only 5 episodes in.., really? It was thoughtful, relevant and well written.. remove some of those insipid comedies instead.
I agree. Those stupid sit coms are really out of hand. And oh, by the way, why not cancel some of those crappy reality shows which aren’t.

This is ridiculous. I really like this program. I love the lead character…strong, no nonsense woman. Oh well…on to the next idiotic reality show.
