What’s This TV Show About?
An ABC comedy-drama, The Rookie stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, Afton Williamson, and Eric Winter. The story centers on John Nolan (Fillion), a small-town guy who, after a life-changing experience, decides to pursue his dream of being an LAPD officer. Now he’s the oldest rookie on the force, and the brass thinks he’s just having a midlife crisis. He’s got to keep up with his younger co-workers (not to mention young criminals) or he’ll risk lives. Maybe though, he can use the experience he’s gained with age, and the determination he has developed over the years, to make a real go of it. Either way, he’s got a secret weapon — his sense of humor.

Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew The Rookie for season two? The ratings haven’t been very good but I suspect the network will give this series every chance to succeed. My guess is that it will be cancelled but ABC could renew it and make some changes to try to improve the ratings. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. My family really likes this show. I just saw a TV ad tonight (April 15) for The Rookie that said “Watch the Final Season.” Sounds like it hasn’t been officially cancelled, so I’m confused. Maybe it was a typo that was supposed to say the final episode (of season 1).

1) one of the few shows that has relatively clean language, yet very dramatic events 2) Excellent variety of starting video footage, very creative, and beautiful 3) Has music, but when people are talking it keeps it way down so you can understand their lines. Don’t mess with show !! John Nolan’s plays his character brilliantly. Please renew with 20 + episodes each season for many more years.
Love the show. The characters are well written and the chemistry between them is great. I look forward to watching Tuesday night. Haven’t been disappointed yet. Keep it going.

I am a huge fan of the show but definitely want to let the producers know about a concern exhibited in the recent Episode whereby the Rookie is at the headstone of the Captain. It appears that the deceased Captain is of the Jewish faith as evidenced by the stones that were on top of her headstone. In the Jewish Religion the stones depict the fact that someone came to visit and the deceased is not forgotten. In the scene with the Rookie, he brushed all of the stones off of the headstone abruptly which is definitely a sign of… Read more »
If you have a good picture you will see they are leaves when you see the headstone from the front. They did look more like stones in the later shot when he was brushing them off but I believe they were still meant to be leaves. Therefore hopefully no disrespect intended or otherwise.
