Cinemax is getting into business with Marvel Comics. Deadline reports the network is developing a new series based on the Marvel/Icon comic book Scarlet.
First released in 2010, the comic comes from writer Brian Michael Bendis and illustrator Alex Maleev.
Scarlet centers on Scarlet Rue, a rebellious young woman from Portland, OR who winds up triggering a new American revolution. Bendis discussed the series at this week’s ATX Television Festival in Austin:
Scarlet is a list of things you can’t get made. Here’s a female lead who’s killing cops because her world is broken. When it was sold it was sold to people who were actively looking for that, so that put us in a good place. So stay tuned.”
What do you think? Have you read Scarlet the comic book series? Would you watch the TV adaptation?
