TV show description:
From creator Tim Doyle, The Kids Are Alright TV show is an ensemble sitcom, set in the 1970s. The series follows the Cleary family, a traditional Irish-Catholic clan, as they live out their lives amidst the upheaval of the 1970s.
The story unfolds in a great Los Angeles working-class neighborhood. The family is headed up by married couple Peggy (McCormack) and Mike Cleary (Cudlitz), who are raising eight rowdy and energetic sons. Because this is the 70s, the boys live most of their lives outside, and they do so with a lack of supervision that might cause modern helicopter parents to faint.
Their lives are chugging along more as less as expected, until the Clearys’ eldest son, Lawrence (Straley) comes home to announce he’s quitting the seminary. Instead of pursuing the priesthood, he wants to embark on a mission to “save the world.” Mike and Peggy never expected to be raising their brood in such turbulence, but as the song goes, the times they are a-changing.
Series Finale:
Episode #23 — Irish Goodbye
Peggy struggles with Lawrence’s decision to move out of the house, especially after she discovers that he is secretly moving in with a girlfriend she’s never met. Lawrence’s determination to keep Peggy out of his personal life only causes her to investigate further, while Mike welcomes his departure. Meanwhile, Timmy can’t find his ventriloquist dummy, Knuckles, and learns that Joey took him without asking.
First aired: May 21, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like The Kids Are Alright TV series? Should this ABC TV show have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
We love this show. I’m so sorry it was canceled. They keep the dumbest shows and cancel the good ones. I don’t know who makes these decisions, but they need to get their heads in the right places.
The show was the best comedy on TV. I was so sorry to see that it was cancelled.
Please reconsider ABC I love the show!!! can’t believe it got the ax. Why keep the Connors that show is awful. The Kids Are all Right was well written and very relatable. If you don’t renew hope another network will pick up… ABC you got this one wrong.
Why oh why would any network cancel this HIGHLY ENTERTAINING show???!!! Our family LOVES this show!!!! I pray another network picks it up and keeps it st the same time slot so that all of us can boycott ABC to catch up on the Clearys! The Conners is horrible!! Reconsider, ABC. Not everyone out here watches the rest of your programming.
My wife and i are 50 yr olds. We watched every episode. Our 3 kids ages 12 thru 19 also watched and as we related to so much in the show the kids lauvhed heartily. Please ABC reconsider or another network please pick this up.
The show is great!IT’s one of my favorite. PLEASE, DON’T CANCEL IT.
This show is great! The writers and actors crack my daughter and I up. Great characters. Frank slays me. I hope someone else picks this show up!
This show was hysterical. I can’t understand why ABC has chosen to give it the ax! Please reconsider or shop it around to other networks.
I love this show!! Keep it or let some other network pick it up!!!!
I Love this show, this one of the only shows that I set my DVR for. The Conners is awful, they had their chance cancel that and keep The Kids are alright. ABC is going downhill fast.
I’ve watched each episode at least 3 times because it is really that entertaining! The Conners? Really?
The Kids are Alright is brilliant! Please someone keep it going….
You renew the Connors and cancel The Kids Are Alright? Terrible decision, so disappointing.
Don’t cancel The kid s are Alright … it was the best show ABC had … such good writing … so relatable to those of us who’s grew up in the 70s. Big mistake in cancelling!
Growing up during this time period, I can say it was closer to reality than today’s reality shows. Mike Cleary character should be Time magazine Man of the Year. Since it was one of only a handful of current shows worth watching, naturally it had to be cancelled by the network gods. ☹
Please keep The kids are alright on the air. It’s funny as ****
My family and friends love this show
