Myfanwy’s story has come to a close. According to TVLine, Starz has decided that there won’t be a second season of The Rook TV show.
A fantasy spy thriller based on the 2012 Daniel O’Malley novel, The Rook stars Emma Greenwell, Joely Richardson, Adrian Lester, Olivia Munn, Jon Fletcher, Ronan Raferty, Catherine Steadman, Gina McKee, Ruth Madeley, Eleanor Matsuura, Shelley Conn, Tamsin Topolski, Barry Atsma, Luke Roberts, James D’Arcy, Michael Karim, and Michael McElhatton. The supernatural series follows Myfanwy Thomas (Greenwell), who awakens in the rain at London’s Millennium Bridge, but has no memory and cannot explain the circle of corpses surrounding her. Myfanwy is a key member of Checquy, the last actually secret service in the UK, and it protects Extreme Variant Abilities (EVAs). As her own supernatural gifts emerge, Myfanwy must dig for the truth about herself.
The first season of The Rook averaged a 0.04 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 225,000 viewers. Compared to other Starz series, it was a middle-of-the-road performer in traditional ratings.
The eighth and final episode aired in August 2019.

Wow. Was really looking forward to the developing story. Hopefully STARZ offered it off to another pay channel who has more guts to see potential for shows audiences enjoy watching and has a following.
network ratings mean squat these days i work too much to watch shows when they’re aired. i dont think these silver haired execs understand the new metrics. Rook may not been award winning homerun out the gate but it was way better than a lot of shows especially Counterpart. waa looking forward to see a season 2
The Rook and ‘Counterpart’ were 2 great shows different from others, which made them better that Starz screwed up and cancelled. Being in this business to promote Companies like Starz, …well Starz is disappointing after 2 shows I get into and then they are cancelled. I cannot go on promoting Starz as I usually would as I will now have to push more on Cinemax, Showtime, & HBO and not promote Starz anymore unless they start stepping up and keep shows that are actually good like these two. I’m surprised they cancelled it. Too bad. Starz usually cancels the shows I like and bring back garbage I don’t.
I would definitely want a second season. I was disappointed they chose to strip the humor from the series that was so wonderful in the source material, the books, The Rook, and Stiletto, but still enjoyed the adaption. Read the books if you want to know what happens next!
Really wanted to see Season 2. Felt the show had good potential.
You should have given this another chance and maybe did a little promotion for it. It’s really good with great actors. How can the masses watch something that wasn’t advertised? And then there is word of mouth that ignites interest. Bad decision Starz.
Shame great show kept you thinking and great acting.
I just cancelled my Starz subscription for this reason. The Rook was really the only thing I’ve been excited about on the platform.
I’m watching the series right now for probably the 10th time, but I guess I’ll turn it off because it was in anticipation of season two. It has a fantastic cast and it is so unique. This was the reason I subscribed to Starz – I guess I can cancel now
Well that’s awful. I read the first book in the series, the show was so much better. I really loved it.

Figures. Anything not called Outlander or Power at Starz is doomed. See Counterpart. I will not be duped again by Starz. Worst premium channel by far.
The Rook was a brilliantly written mystery and and science fiction thriller. Very well performed and will be missed. Rare to have a quality production in this genre, and would gain wider audience with more and heightened exposure. Certainly would have watched multiple more seasons of The Rook.
I loved The Rook and was hopeful for a season 2. I’m gutted that it has been cancelled :(.
