What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, The Rookie TV show stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Mekia Cox, Shawn Ashmore, and Tru Valentino. Lisseth Chavez recurs. John Nolan (Fillion) is a middle-aged divorced man from Pennsylvania who owns a construction company. He decides to give up his old life to pursue a new career as a police officer in the Los Angeles Police Department. He graduates from the Police Academy, is the oldest rookie on the force, and eventually becomes a training officer. He works with Sergeant Wade Grey (Jones), Detective Angela Lopez (Diaz), training officers Nyla Harper (Cox) and Tim Bradford (Winter), fellow rookie Lucy Chen (O’Neil), and the station’s newest rookie, Aaron Thorsen (Valentino).
Season Five Ratings
The fifth season of The Rookie averaged a 0.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.85 million viewers. Compared to season four, that’s up by 20% in the demo and up by 21% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed, and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew The Rookie for season six? The show’s traditional ratings weren’t so hot on Sundays, but the move to Tuesdays has been positive. The series also does well in delayed viewing. The Rookie has also been sold into syndication in 95% of the U.S. markets, making the series more lucrative than ever for Disney. Unless Fillion wants to call it quits, I’m confident it will be renewed for year six. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. The best season of the Rookie was season one. It was hardcore. The original TO Officer Bishop was Bad-Ass. She was hardcore and portrayed what a real LA police officer would be like. Officer Bradford was by the book and someone not to mess with. Lt. Grey was the perfect watch commander. This is when the Rookie was at its best. Officer Nolan was ok for comic relief. The tension between officer Chen and Tim Bradford was OK, but now that they have been brought together turning Bradford into a goofball, has ruined it. We could have done without the… Read more »
Enjoy Rookie,another season please
It’s time to wrap it up. Seasons 1-3 where pretty good. Season 4, ok. Season 5 has been dreadful. The writers have clearly run out of good ideas and is milking Chenford since that’s all they got.
The series lead has no storyline this season and is reduced to a secondary character (The awful Bailey romance doesn’t count). Is Nathan leaving the show? I wouldn’t blame him if he did.
The Rookie is one of my favorite shows. I certainly hope it is renewed.

This is one of my favorite shows. I love the characters and the storylines. There aren’t many shows that I look forward to, but this is one that is entertaining.

The Rookie, is a good show that sends a message to all its viewers that COPS are human just like the rest of us and not the demons that of late are being portrayed. It would be a shame to see the show cancelled.
I love the series The Rookie
I think the series is a joke. I wonder what agents think of the shows stupid co.ments made mostly by Niecy. And agents wouldn’t get by with wearing her street close mostly with her boobs out. We tried to give it a shot her acting is terrible.
You should give the rookie another scene because it’s a good show. I appreciate it a lot. Thank you so much.
