A couple weeks ago, NBC cut the episode order for their low-rated sitcom Truth Be Told. The network declined to say that the series had been cancelled but we now have a further indication that the show is indeed over.
Truth Be Told revolves around two diverse couples who are best friends and neighbors. Seemingly no topic is off limits for the group. Race, religion, politics, body parts and even ex partners are discussed openly. The stars of the series are Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tone Bell, Vanessa Lachey, and Bresha Webb.
When NBC ordered the series earlier this year, it was titled People Are Talking. The network later renamed the comedy but few were talking about it when it premiered. The sitcom debuted to a meager 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.58 million viewers.
The second episode drew a 0.58 in the demo with 2.24 million. Week three saw a bump up in the demo but the ratings were still terrible and the show was doomed. NBC cut the first season order to just 10 episodes.
Truth Be Told had been scheduled to be in production until later this month. Thanks to the shortened episode order, the cast and crew called it quits last week and the set was officially struck.
Though the network isn’t saying it, it’s clear that this sitcom won’t be coming back. With such poor ratings, its possible that the network will pull Truth be Told from the schedule before all 10 episodes have aired.
What do you think? Do you like the Truth be Told sitcom? Should NBC air the remaining episodes or pull it early? Do you think ikt should be cancelled or saved?
I loved this show. I want more
I Really Love This Show.. I Would Love To Watch More
I know it is probably to let but I just watched all episodes on Hulu and I loved it. I hope there is a chance it will be back
Loved the show! Love th chemistry of the cast–especially the 2 guys. Didn’t know the show existed. Accidentally came across it on On Demand. It’s NBC’s fault. They didn’t do a good job promoting the show. It would have survived on ABC–It’s just as good, if not better, than some of their shows, like Last Man Standing, Dr. Ken, etc. Based on the comments below, it seems like a promotion/marketing issue than a question of whether the show was good or not. I wish another network would pick this up.
Please bring back the show. Loved it. Watched it all in one day through Hulu. Didn’t even know it existed before that point. I laughed at every episode and would miss it if it didn’t come back.
