Will Forte soon won’t be the only last man on Earth on television. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra’s popular comic Y: The Last Man is being developed into a series by FX.
Created in 2002, the comic follows Yorick Brown, a young escape artist with a pet monkey, who becomes the last male mammal on Earth thanks to a prolific plague that wipes out all other Y-chromosome creatures.
The comic ran until 2008, with a total of 60 issues. It quickly became a hit, winning three Eisner Awards for Best Writer, Best Artist, and Best Continuing Series.
For years, the comic was mired in plans for a feature film franchise, jumping from one producer to another.
FX is currently looking for a writer and director to help develop the series.
No news yet on a premiere date.
