The work of Philadelphia’s MPU is over. FOX has cancelled Alert: Missing Persons Unit so we won’t be seeing a fourth season for 2025-26. The show’s third season of 10 episodes finished airing on May 27th.
A police procedural drama series, the Alert: Missing Persons Unit TV show stars Scott Caan, Dania Ramirez, Adeola Role, and Ryan Broussard, with Elana Dunkelman recurring. The story revolves around the personnel and investigations of the Philadelphia Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit (MPU). The unit is headed by Nikki Batista (Ramirez), whose marriage to Jason Grant (Caan) deteriorated after their son Keith went missing. Six years later, while Jason’s working as a private investigator, Nikki recruits him to join the unit. They work alongside a team of highly skilled individuals. Mike Sherman (Broussard) is Batista’s current love interest who she met when he was assigned to oversee the search for Keith. Kemi Adebayo (Role) is proficient in many languages, highly discerning of visual clues, and uses her know-how as a shaman to take a holistic approach to her job.
Airing on Tuesday nights, the third season of Alert: Missing Persons Unit averaged a 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.05 million viewers (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Compared to season two, that’s down by 16% in the demo and down by 8% in viewership.
The show is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television, so Fox Entertainment also must share the profits with the external studio.
According to Deadline, FOX considered retooling the series to boost the ratings but ultimately decided to cancel it instead. In the demo, it’s FOX’s lowest-rated scripted series, barely beating The Cleaning Lady (which was also cancelled today).
What do you think? Have you kept up with the Alert: Missing Persons Unit series each year? Are you disappointed this drama wasn’t renewed for a fourth season on FOX?

Very disappointed. Looked forward to the show every week the shows were sometimes a bit contrived but they were always entertaining. They did a great job in developing clever plot lines.
Love this show. The dynamic between Jason and Mike is so good. I hope they find a way to continue the series.
So disappointed!!! I love this show!!! Why why why???
I knew they would cancel it at the end of Season 2. The show without Dania makes no sense as Season 3 proved
I really enjoyed Alert & Found so of course they are canceled. They will be replaced with stupid reality shows. The dumbing down of America. Thankfully we have Netflix and Apple TV.
This is so disappointing. I love this show. I love Scott Caan and Ryan Ramirez together they have such great brotherly chemistry on screen. Adeola Role is amazing as well. I was devastated when Dania Ramirez didn’t come back for this past season, thought how are they going make this work without her, but they did. Please don’t cancel this show. Too many good ones are getting cancelled at the drop of a hat. Please, please, please keep this one.
Alert missing persons unit was one of the best shows on TV with great scripts great acting what the hell is wrong with these Networks they cancel all the creative shows and leave us with crap
It’s us viewers that are above 49 years that miss shows like these.
The Cleaning Lady and Alert were my favourites.
Stick them on subscription because I would genuinely pay to watch these.
Never watched Law & Order or Chicago trilogy.
I think your viewing figures are rigged.
We lost a lot of shows recently, I hate reality TV and talent shows because they’re demeaning to the disabled.
Love this show, keep it going.
Watched every week. All good shows are gone. Will miss them.
Alert: MPU is an enjoyable show, but the show-runners should not have made that “bold” choice they made in Season 3. The show was never the same after they made that decision.
I don’t know why Fox had found it necessary to cancel alert. I will not be watching Fox channel anytime soon that’s for sure!!!!
Another good show cancelled and ending with a big cliffhanger.
This was a good show! Sorry to see it being cancelled.
Not surprised. Liked the show but the writing was poor after the death of one of the main characters.
