ABC has unveiled yet another cop series, Detroit 1-8-7. This one stars Michael Imperioli who, as you may recall, co-starred on ABC’s Life on Mars a couple seasons ago. That one was cancelled after 17 episodes. Will his new show last any longer?
Detroit 1-8-7 follows a group of homicide detectives working on the tough streets of Detroit, Michigan. The ABC series stars Imperioli as well as Aisha Hinds, D.J. Cotrona, Erin Cummings, James McDaniel, Jon Michael Hill, Natalie Martinez, and Shaun Majumder.
In its premiere, the series attracted a lackluster 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.342 million total viewers. For the timeslot, it was in third (last) place for the all-important demo and in second place for total viewers (beating Parenthood).

The series premiere lost nearly half of its lead-in audience from Dancing with the Stars. Not good.
On top of that, Detroit 1-8-7 continued to lose viewers as the hour progressed. That’s a pretty good indicator that those viewers won’t be back next week.
Detroit 1-8-7 will likely lose viewers in week two, as most shows do. It won’t have to lose many to be in serious trouble.
But, what do you think? Is Detroit 1-8-7 worth watching? Will you make a point to tune in or should it be cancelled already?

Finally a show worth watching, it reminds me of Hill Street Blues to. Has many good characters and ways to go with story lines, finally out of New York. Happy to see
something away from the ridiculous reality nonsense. It’s a keeper.
Detroit 187 is a WINNER!!! This series is FANTASTIC!!!
As always, last night’s episode was fantastically acted, written, and directed.
This team does a phenomenal job within its 40 minutes of actual on-air presentation (20 minutes of commercials).
“Castle” was a slow mover but ABC gave it a chance and they’re pleased they did.
ABC has gotta keep this show! It just keeps getting better and better. More marketing and more time and this could be a classic. A show set outside of NY for a change with the same gritty feeling. I started this season with high hopes for Law and Order: Los Angeles. I was quickly disappointed. This show, has filled that void I miss from the original Law and Order as well as past favorites such as Hill St. Blues, NYPD Blue, and Homicide Life on the Streets. Interesting characters, very intense, with just the right amount of humor to take… Read more »
Keep Detroit 1-8-7 It is a great show, and I watch every week.
There are enough shows about Los Angles and New York. It is about time that shows branch out from the norm. The actors are great, especially Michael Imperioli.
KEEP DETROIT 1-8-7!
Detroit 1-8-7 is one of the better cop shows on TV now. I never miss an espisode and love the acting in this series. Please keep this special program on the air, just give it a chance!
Why would they take a good show like Detroit 1-8-7 off and leave all the other crap on .This could be a new Hill street Blues, if given a little while.
Please keep Detroit 187. I grew up in Detroit , went to Southeastern Hi. Left Detroit in1947 and look each program for land marks. My Dad worked onthe Penobscot bldg as a plumber, and I see it at times on the program. I know others from the area who live out of town like the program too. Why do you have to take good programs off the air and leave crapppy ones on? Please, please, please leave it on!!!!!!!!
My husband and I really enjoy Detroit 1-8-7. It seems one of the very few intelligent programs available; reminds us of Hill Street Blues. Michael Imperioli is VERY good as Fitch and we look foward to getting to know his character better. Please don’t cancel the program, it has many places to go and room to grow.
I think Detroit 1-8-7 is a solid show fo audiences. I can see where people would lose interest in it- it is one of those story lines shows which takes time to ‘jump’ in to. However, D-1-8-7 is not a typical show, which is refreshing. The characters have more depth than one nighters and basic relationships. The show is solidly written. I think the biggest issue with ratings is the fact advertising is rare. Ads bombard us about ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘V’, and ‘The Bachelor’… but where were and are this shows ads? Over all- great show! If removed, many will… Read more »
Do not take this cop show off the air. I like the whole crew. I like Michael Imperioli. He was good in the Sopranos too. All the characters blend in nicely. Couple of em had to grow on me , but they did rather quickly. Maybe Detroit will get a shot in the arm from the show. Hooray for the people that still live there.
I love Detroit 1-8-7 Please keep it. Perhaps it could be put in another time slot and maybe it would do better. I love Michael Imperioli. I first saw him on the Sopranos. I was hoping that the show would highlight some of the better neighborhoods in Detroit and the wonderful people that live there. I will always have a special place in my heart for Detroit. I lived there for 33 years. Was graduated from Cass Tech High school. I have nothing but fond memories of a city that will be great again. Thank you Michael, I think you… Read more »
Don’t take my Tuesdays away! I look forward to Tuesday night. I set reminders for Detroit 187, I love it!!!!!!
I never miss Detroit 1-8-7
Ithink given time veiwers will grow tired of glee and dancing with the stars and the good wife.
I don’t mind equal rights for the ladies , but leave some good cop shows on for us guys.
Please keep Detroit 1-8-7. It’s one of me favorite shows right now and I never miss it!
Typical police drama but vastly superior to any Jerry Bruckhiemer products which is insulting to descerning and intelligent viewers. Certainly better than any NCIS, and vastly superior too to the modernized remake of Hawaii Five Oh. I prefer Detroit 1-8-7 than any of that. In todays economy, in a city like detroit, there not enough murder investigators. They are swamped with cases, they also have to testify in court as part of their duties in supproting the district attorney’s office a pillar of justice. They rarely draw their weapons, if they did it is even more rare they fire it… Read more »
