Why did CBS just cancel most of their new TV shows? Recently, network boss Kelly Kahl spoke with Deadline about the decision to cancel Broke, Carol’s Second Act, Tommy, and God Friended Me.
With the exception of God Friended Me, which wrapped its second season this spring, all the shows cancelled debuted during the 2019-20 season. CBS also cancelled Man with a Plan, which is currently airing its fourth season.
Speaking to Deadline, Kahl revealed it was a “tough” decision to cancel Broke, God Friended Me, Carol’s Second Act, and Tommy:
At the end of the day they weren’t doing the numbers we were hoping for, and despite liking them creatively, knowing timely decisions were upon us, we had to make tough calls to move on from those shows. You want to keep them all for another season; that’s what makes these calls tough. You invest a lot of time and effort and people put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into these shows, and when you have to say goodbye. It’s a tough call.”

God Friended Me was excellent & watched every week so will miss it most. Ending left ?’s & mtn scene didn’t make sense so hopefully come back later. Also, liked Man With A Plan but not always home at Thursday time slot.
Please bring back God friended me. PLEASE!
Tommy was a great show too bad CBS canceled it. We will miss it, too bad it was cut so soon.

Thursday nights will be spent on Netflix following cancelation of another good well thought out program , great episodes and presentations. No wonder ratings were not super high due to the lack of exposure and giving viewers time to tune in.
GOD FRIENDED ME was an interesting different kind of show. Prob why it was canc
I was thoroughly enjoying Tommy….great story line, good back up story, diverse characters. Very disappointed it’s been cancelled.

Broke was growing on us as their character personality developed.
God Friended Me was the ONLY CBS show I wouldn’t miss each week. Loved it and will miss it.

God friended Me was a much needed change to the mainstream violent tv shows out there today. For my wife and I, we hope it will be picked up by another network. We miss it.

Really enjoyed Tommy! Such a well acted and written show, with real life situations handled honestly. A great way to spend time not thinking about our current situation. Please renew it for the fans that are invested in this show.
