Last week, ABC revised their primetime schedule and the final two episodes of Happy Town were bumped. The move didn’t come as a big surprise since the ratings have continued to drop lower and lower.
It was speculated that the episodes might air on a Saturday night in July, following in the footsteps of fellow cancelled shows the forgotten (July 3rd) and Eastwick (July 10th).
Now, the unofficial word is that the last two episodes of Happy Town won’t even be shown on TV. Instead, they’ll be burned off on ABC’s website. The show’s official network representative couldn’t offer us any details but confirmed that ABC doesn’t have plans to air the final episodes in the foreseeable future.
The writers and producers of Happy Town have been told that they’ll be released online but haven’t been able to find out when that will happen either. We’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
UPDATE: The last episodes have been posted. You can watch “Dallas Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” and “Blame it on Rio Bravo” here.
What do you think? Does it upset you that the last two episodes will be released on the Internet? Does it matter?

I think that ABC should at least air the last two episodes on TV. Those of us who have been following the show would like to know how it ends. I was upset that they pulled pushing daisies too, with no end. My computer runs slow and to air them online, just not fair.
I enjoyed watching Happy Town. It is more of a mystery thriller. I like that kind of program over the law & order series that seems to be on everyday.
Very disappointing. I loved “Eastwick” and “the forgotten” as well; now they are canceling “Happy Town.” Boo. I am with many of the other posters. I will not be watching any new shows on ABC until they are renewed for Season 2. Then I will catch up once Season 1 is on DVD. Sick of getting attached to shows and then having the network cancel them.
ABC and other networks have done this too many times to great shows… Invasion, Threshold, Surface, Point Pleasant, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles… it is unforgiveable to pull a series before the season has even ended. The networks spend the money to record these episodes, so wouldn’t it be in their best interest to air them, get the advertising money, and call it a day at the end of the season at least? But no, let’s air re-runs of crap no one cares about.
Such a wrong move on ABC’s part, that network continues to disappoint~
ABC sucks with this decision!
ABC just stinks for this!!! At least let the 2 million fans get the ending. It could have been a great show for ABC. Next time they have another “new” show count me out. Hello NBC, CBS, TNT, and TBS. Ciao ABC………..
So, when are we going to have the priviledge of seeing the final two episodes online?
I hope the final 2 episodes will still show up as torrents as I’m in Europe and can’t watch on ABC’s website due to regional restrictions!
ABC will never care to realize what the long term effects of disrespecting your viewers and producers can do. Guess they feel nobody can hurt Disney. that’s why I am hoping Disney sells them off as is rumored.
There is a Canadian site that a lot of people in Europe and Canada have seen the episodes on try http://www.ch131.com/
I would take what I could get. It’s easy enough to watch it online. It’s no fair to not let us see the end, that just plain sucks. So at the VERY LEAST, it can give us devoted viewers a chance to see the ending!!
Jeeeeez..
Only two episodes left that I am dying to see.. and now this??
There is a lot more crap on ABC then that.
Network TV is dead. It is no longer in any viewer’s interest to get involved in a new episodic series. The chances are just too great that the network will cancel the series and not show the remaining episodes. I am not happy about Happy Town ABC. If the last two episodes are not aired then I won’t bother tring any new fall series, why should I have to view online or buy a DVD to complete a series. I understand cancelling a non performing series but to leave viewers hanging on a short series is unforgiveable.
It is such a disapointment that TV shows like this are always cancelled. ABC is notorious for cancelling shows (like Happy Town and also my other favorite FlashForward.) I am now very unlikely to begin watching another show from the fall lineup because there is just so much of a chance that it will be cancelled. Why invest my time in a show that will never have the chance to play itself out. This is such a huge disapointment.
I also really enjoyed Happy Town, as well as Harper’s Island. It doesn’t matter that the last two episodes will be on ABC.com only, that’s how I watch the show anyway. I just hope they put them up soon.
It’s too bad that the networks and affiliates can’t continue a series to the end. They make a fortune on low-cost reality shows, and tons of free money in advertising in election years (say 2010) so I’d think they could absorb the total cost of a few losers. I’d like to be able to see the final 2 episodes of Happy Town on air, but over the internet is still better than not at all.
Why are the networks always canceling shows before they can even get off the ground? And not airing the last 2 episodes? Seriously? Maybe there aren’t as many viewers as you had hoped, but what about the 2.2 Million people that are watching? Very disappointing.
