At this morning’s FX presentation at the TCA press tour, the cable channel announced that they are renewing It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia for two more years — seasons eight and nine. This will make sitcom the longest-running in the history of basic cable. FX also has an option on season 10.
There’s no word yet on how many episodes have been ordered but the most recent seasons have been made up of 12-14 installments each. They also typically launch in September and finish in either late November or early December.
The seventh season of Sunny is set to debut on September 15th and will run for 14 episodes. The season is expected to finish on December 15th.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been renewed or would you rather it be cancelled instead? How long should it go on?

Oh my god! I don’t know how I am just finding out about this now, but it just made me sooooo happy! It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is my favorite show in the history of television and it is one of the best shows on TV. Smart decision FX
Well I’m gonna watch them all on DVD sooner or later, so good.
