Telly’s Take
Despite declining ratings, Law & Order: SVU remains one of NBC’s top-rated TV series. Will NBC cancel or renew it for a 20th season? The show is still performing well so I’m sure it will be renewed. Additionally, when shows are approaching a season which ends in a zero (or a five), there’s a certain cachet to picking up that season. I predict this show will easily snag a 20th season. Meanwhile, I’ll keep an eye on the ratings and will update this page with breaking developments. Subscribe for free updates on any Law & Order: SVU cancellation or renewal news.

I love SVU and watch it on netflix I cannot affor TV to help the ratings. Would hate to see the series end.
I just recently got into this show about 2 wks ago and I’ve binged watched seasons 15-17. I am now on Amazon finding whatever seasons I can from the beginning! Idk about y’all but Ima need a season 20 now!! Don’t disappoint a new fan now!
If you want all the episodes Hulu has them. The lowest package from them cost $7.99 a month. They do offer a month free trial. And for only $11.99 they will take out commercials.
you can watch season 1 to the current episode on hulu and its cheaper
look up 123movies or putlocker and you can watch every episode from every season for free
I am so into this show! I was in the hospital in Atlanta, and my wife and I watched a few episodes. We INSTANTLY became hooked! I am no collecting the seasons on DVD, The characters are so easy to care for, (and the defense attorneys are easy to hate, especially the one who looks like Fred Flintstone. LOL) to the powers that be, PLEASE LET THERE BE A SEASON 20!!!
Law & Order SVU must have a 20th Season! They must.
Please don’t cancel law and suv is the best and loved series. I can’t wait the following Wednesday to see watch is next. The renewed my favorite serious. Best tv series that has been on tv. I love all characters if cancel u will break a lot of hearts.
Thank u for your time,
TRACY OTOOLE
It’ll definitely 100% be renewed now. With a new cast member just joining, I think that means it’ll definitely be renewed now. If they had plans to finish this season, they would keep Raúl to the end and not introduce a new cast member halfway through the season. I believe it could get to 22 seasons easily and maybe a 23rd but I could be pushing it. Either way, a 20th season is definitely happening. Just wish they’d announce it already.
I believe the show will be on as long as we live. This is America’s show whether you like it or not? This show is always on house when I’m home. I think Mariska/ Benson this is her show and I love her I would love to meet her. America would never have anything to binge watch if they cancelled the show. Look at General Hospital who watches that crap.? Love all of the cast
They can’t canceled this show they need to renew it.I love this show and I can’t wait till season 20 to come out.
I truly hope they Rene SVU, I look forward to every Wed night to watch this show. I’ve been a fan since day and to see this show cancelled will be a very bad decision. So many people, co-workers talk about the show the following day, there are so many people who still watch this show and have lots of love for SVU. NBC would be insane to not renew this great show. I do think they need to go back to more episodes that so focus on what the show is suppose to be based on but I also… Read more »
The show will probably be renewed because the live ratings for almost every show on NBC in the 18-49 category are going DOWN. This show really needs to be judged by the live ratings in the 24-55 category. The show is in its 19th season, and viewers get OLDER, NBC! I’m not sold on the new show runner. I’m also not thrilled that Philip Winchester is coming in to replace Raul Esparza sometime around mid season. We’ll see what happens.
I hope it will continue. Esparza (my favorite) has already made a comment (in August 2017) hinting he may be going back to Broadway. The show pulls from the headlines, and therefore will always have topics that can be used as episode focus. I would prefer the story line go back to the topic of Law & Order: SVU instead of so much personal character topics. I believe fans care about the “team” together, not so much as indiviuals. Interrupting scheduling and running repeats pushes viewers away.
Considering the fact that SVU is the most highly rated show that hasn’t been renewed in the 18-49 category, which is really what mostly renews a show, NBC would be crazy not to renew it. It will be renewed. The show is much better than the previous season. It’s almost as if the show is going back to a sort of Season 10-12 style, which is extremely good. If your not watching because of last season, watch it! It’s probably the best season in ages. I see the show getting to 21 seasons easily, and maybe a 22nd season if… Read more »
You are probably the only one lately that has made any sense at all in regards to SVU. I have to agree with you on everything that you said. I believe it’s going back to the 10-12 seasons as well. I don’t see any reason as to why it would be cancelled. NBC would be ignorant to cancel. Plus there would be a petition from viewers to bring it back on T.V. as well. It’s gone through a lot of changes to say the least. I love the direction it’s going.
