What’s This TV Show About?
A legal drama airing on the NBC television network, Law & Order: SVU stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, and Raúl Esparza. The police procedural centers on Lt. Olivia Benson (Hargitay) and her elite squad of New York City Police Department detectives who investigate crimes including sexual assault, child abuse, and domestic violence.

Telly’s Take
Despite declining ratings, Law & Order: SVU remains one of NBC’s top-rated TV series. Will NBC cancel or renew it for a 20th season? The show is still performing well so I’m sure it will be renewed. Additionally, when shows are approaching a season which ends in a zero (or a five), there’s a certain cachet to picking up that season. I predict this show will easily snag a 20th season. How yawn-inspiring! Take it off the air. It’s hackneyed and cliche anymore. It’s just bad drama and offers nothing new. How sad this dead horse keeps getting beaten in the name of failing ratings. Glad I have cable so I can watch something good instead. Congrats to Meloni for reinventing himself after leaving on a high note. The rest if the crew should take the hint and get a clue!

This and Chicago Med are the only two shows that I really enjoy that Dick Wolf has made. It would be a shame to see the show go. Please renew it for a season 20.

I am noticing here in Australia some jump the shark activity on SVU Law andOrder. Recently Rafael Barber had to leave after killing a profoundly disabled small child.Also Munch and Cassidy came back again. I love this show and whether its 18 or 19 the series showing here lacks the authentic and crafted plotlines of earlier series.
Renew it! This season has been great, better than last one, and the ratings are doing really well. Give it a 20th season and maybe do a double renewal with season 21 too. If you renew it for a 20th season, NBC would be deadset insane not to renew it for a 21st to break the record so why not break it early. If not, just renew the show already NBC! Remember you announced Season 17 and 18 in early February, start doing that again!
Considering the rumors ghat Dick Wolfe already has another show lined up for Mariska Hargitay and Phillip Wichester to star opposite in as their L&O characters, I would say cancel it and end on a somewhat high note. The writing is lazy, albiet better fhan last season, but it has already become yhe Olivia Benson show, and with Winchester taking on the role as the first male lead since Nick Amaro, I would say cancelling it would be their smartest move. The ratings haven’t been where they needed to be since s17. They were stupid to let Warren Leight go.
I believe it was Leight’s departure that compelled Raúl Esparza’s decision to leave the show, and Esparza’s acting and Leight’s writing were what held the show together.
