Lodge 49 is closing its doors on AMC. The network has canceled the series, which aired for two seasons. Season two of the series wrapped two weeks ago, so fans will not receive a proper ending for this series. There is hope for Lodge 49 though. The series will be shopped to other outlets soon, and it is possible another network or service will pick up the series.
Lodge 49 tells the story of Sean Dudley. A surfer that is looking for a purpose to his life after his father’s death. He finds the lodge one day, and he becomes a member of The Ancient and Benevolent Order of the Lynx The cast of the series included Wyatt Russell, Brent Jennings, Sonya Cassidy, Linda Emond, David Pasquesi, and Eric Allan Kramer.
On AMC, the series averaged 198,000 viewers weekly for its second season. Per Deadline, AMC said the following about the series in a statement:
“We are so proud to have had Lodge 49 on our air. This wonderful show gave audiences fresh and unforgettable characters in a world that did not exist anywhere else on television. Thanks to the stellar cast including Wyatt Russell, Sonya Cassidy and Brent Jennings and to our partners in this unique labor of love, Jim Gavin, Peter Ocko and Paul Giamatti for two remarkable seasons that initiated the world into The Ancient and Benevolent Order of the Lynx.”
What do you think? Are you sad to hear about Lodge 49’s cancellation? Are you a fan of the series?
That sucks just found it and now its gone.
Dang
That was a really good shew, as Ed Sullivan would have said.
What is WRONG w/ people?????—-This such an OUTSTANDING show….I’m so bummed!!!!-Will someone w/ intelligence & heart please renew this show on another network??? PLEASE!!!!!
I am also sad to hear Lodge 49 has not been renewed. My fingers are crossed that Netflix will pick it up. It was such a refreshing show that showcased writers with an actual imagination, not like the usual regurgitated programs.
AMC, you SUCK
I left a long sad and disappointing review and it has disappeared. I am deeply saddened to know there won’t be a season 3. I didn’t watch the end of season 2 just in case it was cancelled. Well, it was cancelled…. My heart is broken to see this show end. I have fraternal twins and my son looks just like Wyatt Russell. At the end of season 1 I was left to believe Dud had died from a shark attack. Almost cried… Then season 2 came on! My twins were back! I can’t think about the ending of season… Read more »
AMC, if you’re reading this, shame on you. You did nothing to promote this magical series nor did you run the first season before/in conjunction with, the second season (as you did with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul). There was a year between seasons, and it would’ve been nice to been able to see the series from beginning again and then layer in the new one. More importantly is that you lost a multitude of new watchers because they hadn’t a clue what was happening without the first season, the beginning. Thus, they walked and ratings diminished.
I could just cry, seriously. My heart broke when Dud was attacked by a shark at the end of season one. Leaving me to believe Dud died. I screamed “Noooooo!” This can’t be! I was left to hang. When season 2 aired it was a relief to see Dud alive! I can’t bear to watch the end of the series. .My son looks exactly like Wyatt Russell and if he perishes at the end of season 2 it will kill me. Please please please will another network pick this show up? I lived for this show. It was something to… Read more »
Another great show cut short. Come on AMC! I really hope Netflix picks this up. The characters, the story, the quirkiness….there was nothing else like it on TV! Peace, love, and Dud (and Liz)! Lodge 49 was my happy place.
Whaaaaaat?!!! Lodge 49 is incredible. With the conclusion of S2 bringing so many of the characters and their storylines together, S3 was going to focus their individual quests into a greater search for answers. I’m so sad for all the possibilities this show had left to explore.
Lodge 49 deserves to be picked up by another network! This quirky show is a happy surprise. Far from being a classic comedy or drama, it features believable characters in interesting circumstances. Heartwarming and engaging; it would be a shame to let this gem swirl down the drain while dross prevails. Please give Lodge 49 the chance it deserves!
Wtf!? I thought it was a great show that had a lot of viewers!?
Please, Hulu, pick up and carry on the Lodge!
This was the best show of all on TV.
Hope that it will return.
Please keep it running with new episodes and many more seasons
We all need to know what happens next
GREAT SHOW!!!!!!
Of course. No explosions and violence and SFX. A quiet, gentle, charming little show. Now — where do I go for my weekly Sonya fix?
