A political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
The fifth season of Madam Secretary averaged a 0.56 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.41 million viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 9% and 12%, respectively.
Out of the 26 scripted CBS TV shows of the 2018-19 season, Madam Secretary is in 24th place in the demo and 18th place in total viewership.

Oh my goodness! To know this has a low rating is unimaginable! Hubby and I LOVE this show! There are VERY few television shows we enjoy and this is tops in our list. There is too much volatility in the other shows or too much sex. At least this show is a little closer to reality.

Wondering if part of the reason for low viewership is because Sunday night football affects almost every Sunday. I live in the Northeast and her show come on late every week. .Its a shame that the Northeast is so affected by football ..been this way for years. Actually it’s the reason I stopped watching CBS years ago…bit returned because of the present lineup…had to record alot.

This series shows an executive branch with brains! We wish it were true of our current Climate Denier in Chief and his staff.The themes and topics are so relevant …and show research of data and realistic responses to crises situations. Great writing,too. Kids are believable characters as well. Definitely our favorite show. Thanks in advance for another season!
Please keep this show going. I just finished binge watching this on Netflix and I am hooked! Thank goodness for a sixth season!

My wife and I look forward to a new 6th season of Madam Secretary. We enjoy the suspense and the way each issue is addressed. Somehow corresponds to what is happening in DC, except your show shows intelligence and caring, which is something that is missing in real life.
Love this show. It is intelligent, well written and very politically current. Please don’t cancel another smart show. I will definitely watch this season.
I ADORE this show! It is – as others have said – relevant, and up-to-date. I hope it runs for a long time. I wish I could count on networks to keep quality, but perhaps lower-rated shows on the air. They are needed in this day and age. It is on par with West Wing and Designated Survivor.
Fantastic show! Yes, I will watch…as others have said, is relevant and very up to date with their material- amazingly so! I will be very disappointed when it ends as I was when Designated Survivor ended. Two of the best shows in a long time…wonderful casts and great writers.

There are too many less than funny comedies on and not enough shows that actually make you think. Just MHO.
