Although it has not been posted to the BET press site, Deadline reports the second half of Being Mary Jane, season four, will premiere on July 18, 2017. The drama stars Gabrielle Union, Lisa Vidal, Margaret Avery, Aaron D. Spears, Richard Brooks, B.J. Britt, Raven Goodwin, Richard Roundtree, Valarie Pettiford, Chike Okonkwo, and Michael Ealy.
The mid-season finale of Being Mary Jane, “Getting It,” airs tonight, on BET at 10:00pm. In it, Mary Jane (Union) teams with Justin (Ealy) to put into action a plan which could oust Ronda (Pettiford) from the anchor chair. Meanwhile, Kara (Vidal) gets caught in the crossfire.
Reportedly BET had wanted the cast of the Being Mary Jane TV show to film 20 episodes back-to-back to cut back on on production costs. Gabrielle Union sued, alleging her contract specified significant breaks between seasons. The lawsuit was eventually settled but there has been no word on if Being Mary Jane will be cancelled or renewed for season five.
