Streaming on the Netflix subscription service, Messiah stars Mehdi Dehbi, Tomer Sisley, Michelle Monaghan, John Ortiz, Melinda Page Hamilton, Stefania LaVie Owen, Jane Adams, Sayyid El Alami, Fares Landoulsi, and Wil Traval. The show chronicles the modern world’s reaction to a man who first appears in the Middle East. Al-Massih (Dehbi) creates a groundswell of international followers around him when he claims to be the eschatological return of ‘Isa (Jesus). Has he been sent by God or, is he a dangerous fraud who’s bent on dismantling the world’s geopolitical order?.
The first season of 10 episodes was released on January 1st. While the show’s season finale left the door open for a second season, Netflix has apparently decided not to continue the story. Actor Wil Traval, who plays Will Mathers in the series, shared the cancellation news via Instagram.

I was looking forward to a season 2 of the Messiah~ in these troubled times, the show might have been used as a much needed teaching tool for our unsettled world~

I hope another broadcaster will take over the series and do a second season. A sad day for all Netflix Messiah fans in the world. But apparently Netflix is not the right channel for demanding series.
Great idea! I’ll gladly give up Netflix if Amazon Prime will pick up this good series.

Agree! Netflix sucks for canceling with the cliffhanger of Messiah Season 1.
Unbelievable! Messiah is the best thing ww’ve seen on TV for decades. I have encouraged hundreds of friends and family to view it. This magnificent series is better than anything else Netflix (or any other company) have done, including the Crown, of which I am a big fan. PLEASE RECONSIDER this decision….Netflix’s appeal will be diminished if the second season does not proceed. Yours very sincerely. Devastated.
