Streaming on the Netflix subscription service, Messiah stars Mehdi Dehbi, Tomer Sisley, Michelle Monaghan, John Ortiz, Melinda Page Hamilton, Stefania LaVie Owen, Jane Adams, Sayyid El Alami, Fares Landoulsi, and Wil Traval. The show chronicles the modern world’s reaction to a man who first appears in the Middle East. Al-Massih (Dehbi) creates a groundswell of international followers around him when he claims to be the eschatological return of ‘Isa (Jesus). Has he been sent by God or, is he a dangerous fraud who’s bent on dismantling the world’s geopolitical order?.
The first season of 10 episodes was released on January 1st. While the show’s season finale left the door open for a second season, Netflix has apparently decided not to continue the story. Actor Wil Traval, who plays Will Mathers in the series, shared the cancellation news via Instagram.

Messiah was one of the best series on TV! The best on Netflix. So sad that it is dropped. Maybe a more sophisticated network/platform will pick it up! I would dump Netflix easily and subscribe to whoever does pick them up!
I’m disappointed messiah is not getting a second series I really enjoyed it and yes I would have definitely watched it. Come on Netflix some shows you renew are dreadful, really can’t understand your reasoning on this one.

Shame on Netflix, a great show, deep and spiritual, they prefer diffusing gay sex scenes and drug lords as heroes.
I am very disappointed AGAIN in Netflix. There must be a better way to read Subscriber minds then cancelling out our subscriptions. I definitely believed MESSIAH to be a very entertaining production, showing the many emotions of a variety of human beings as we all struggle together in this confusing life to understand one another; and, this show DID HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY to do just THAT.
Yes, I would definitely have watched a second season of Messiah. I was really looking forward to it. Please, Please Netflix don’t cancel this show. We need it more than ever during this national crisis. The star who plays the character Al-Masih is perfect. The story line is perfect. It gets a rating of 5 Stars ***** from me. I WANT MORE! Please change your mind about canceling Messiah. ALL Messiah fans lets voice our opinions to Netflix and get this show back on the air.
I liked the series. I’d love to see a second series.
This was the best show I’ve ever seen. In a world so divided by religion how dare they snuff out the only voice of hope. One representing a Messiah who walks along side all men.
Shame on you Netflix. I’m done. ✌

Disappointed that Netflix has decided to no 2nd season. I had found the show engaging and was looking forward to how season 2 was going to play out. I hope that Netflix rethinks their decision.
I hope they have a good reason why! This show was great, was looking forward to season 2 and now they leave the audience hanging, that stinks on Netflix’s part.
Very disappointed that there will be no Season Two. I only learned about the series a month ago and was surprised that virtually no one I knew had heard about the series. Everything I told did tune in and really liked it. With the Coronavirus keeping everyone in, it got a late start. I believe NetFlix has misjudged its potential
