The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

My husband & I enjoyed learning about the types of traumas & diagnosis for each client. It was an awesome show that should have never been cancelled. Please reconsider and start season 2!
I loved that show. Miss it terribly.
This show was really good. I am sorry to see it go.
I am so disappointed. The characters in this show were so real, and the acting was great. The stories were amazing. Once again, CBS caves to garbage shows.
This really sucks it was an awesome show with great charicters!
Another great show that was cancelled! I thought Miami Medical was a great show ~ the stories were great and really kept you interested. Like other’s have said this show didn’t even have a chance to catch on. BRING IT BACK!!
What are you thinking? You have to give a show a chance, not just take it off before the whole season was even done. For some people tv is all they have, I can’t afford to take my family out so we use it as our form of entertianment. I never thought I would be able to watch the show because it would bring back bad memories of my father and a few other families going through what we had experienced down in MIAMI, but that was not the case it was the best medical show there was out, and… Read more »
Sorry to hear it’s been cancelled. My wife and I thought this was a very good show just like Trauma. We have missed them both.
I love Miami Medical, Why is it that we finally find a good show you take it off for reality crap shows. I am so disappointed that you would cancel good shows. I have been waiting for the second season. What a shame…
really going to miss the show…the characters were great
My husband and i really loved the show. It was the only medical show we really enjoyed since House. I am disappionted it was cancelled
noooooooooooooo…..it should not have been cancelled!!! I was so looking forward to a new season! I loved this series totally. It contained various medical cases which were very interesting. I loved the fast plot as well. I totally agree wit K.J. on how those characters protrayed simple humanity and humility under all the circumstances in a trauma department. In si mple words, I think this was one of the most wonderful series of its kind.
I am devastated that they cancelled this great show. This show is 3 x better than E.R. and it ran for how many seasons!? I really like the fact that the focus is the medical with some side issues about the relationships between the staff and/or their personal stuff. But, even after only 13 episodes I learned to care about the characters on this show and their humanity as they worked in such a high-stress environment. I cried with Dr. Warren when she had to call her first T.O.D. But, the show also brought a lot of insight into the… Read more »
I loved this show. All the shows I love get cancelled for “reality” tv. Reality tv most of the time is trash.
Boy how I agree with you whole heartedly!! I can get reality in my everyday life I want something entertaining on tv and this one was great!
I’m gonna miss it!
