These young medical professionals aren’t returning to NBC. The peacock network has opted not to pick up the second season of Nurses, the medical drama that originates on Global in Canada.
Nurses stars Tiera Skovbye, Natasha Calis, Jordan Johnson-Hinds, Donald MacLean Jr., and Sandy Sidhu. Set in Toronto, the TV show follows five young nurses who are working on the frontlines of a busy downtown hospital. They’re dedicating their lives to helping others, while struggling to help themselves. Grace Knight (Skovbye) is a young nurse looking for a fresh start — until someone from her past turns up who could jeopardize her career. Ashley Collins (Calis) is a wild and unapologetic adrenaline junkie who lives for the fast pace of the hospital. There’s also a huge heart hidden behind her tough exterior. Meanwhile, Keon Colby (Johnson-Hinds) is a former college football star trying to prove there’s more to him than people saw on the field. Nazneen Khan (Sidhu) is the whip-smart daughter of a wealthy family in India. She moved to Canada to reinvent herself and is now starting her first job. Finally, Wolf Burke (MacLean Jr.) is kind-hearted and playful but he also has a secret that may find him in over his head.
Airing primarily on Tuesday nights in early 2021, the first season of Nurses averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.34 million viewers.
The second season of Nurses was filmed in 2020 and the episodes aired in Canada over the summer of 2021. NBC opted not to air the second season, and the medical drama has apparently been cancelled in Canada after two seasons and 20 episodes.
What do you think? Have you watched the Nurses TV series? Were you looking forward to seeing the second season on NBC? Are you disappointed that the show’s been cancelled?
Yes, totally pissed
I’m so disappointed. I was really looking forward to season 2
I was so looking forward to the next season ….. it would have been so nice to see the end to the ongoing story lines/plot.
I waited all this time for a second season because I knew it was airing in Canada and now NBC or Peacock has chose not to bring season 2 to the US. I am very, very disappointed in this decision and this affect whether I watch new shows on NBC or not. I feel like just when you start to like something NBC cancels it.
I was looking forward to seeing the 2nd season. I really liked the show.
Good show…
