We won’t get to see more of Joe’s lives in the 2022-23 television season. NBC has cancelled Ordinary Joe so it won’t have a second year.
A drama series, the Ordinary Joe TV show stars James Wolk, Natalie Martinez, Elizabeth Lail, Charlie Barnett, David Warshofsky, and Teddy Sears with Adam Rodriguez, Jack Coleman, Christine Adams, Joe Carroll, Rushi Kota, Jason Burkey, and Gabrielle Byndloss in recurring roles. The show follows young Joe Kimbreau (Wolk) as he makes a pivotal and life-changing decision at his Syracuse University graduation. The three parallel stories that diverge from that night find Joe and the people around him with different careers, relationships, and family lives. The three tales each follow Joe some 10 years after his graduation: following in his father’s footsteps, as a police officer; following his passion, as a music star; and after he marries his love, as a nurse.
Airing on Monday nights, the first season of Ordinary Joe averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.28 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). It was one of the lowest-rated scripted series of the peacock network’s current season. In the live+7 day ratings, the show averaged a 0.47 with 3.41 million, bringing in an additional 44% in the demo and 50% more viewers.
The drama’s de facto series finale aired on January 24th. Deadline first reported the cancellation. Another freshman series that also aired on Monday nights, The Big Leap, was also cancelled today.
There are very few shows that are worth watching, but Joe was one of them. Very intriguing, with characters you felt you knew. I was looking forward to watching the different directions life went in. Very sad. I hope another network picks it up.
Hello, I’m extremely disappointed that Ordinary Joe has been canceled. It was a different type of show which Was enjoyable, thought-provoking, entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable. I was truly looking forward to more episodes. I record my shows as my work would interfere with the hours this was broadcast. Again so sorry that this really inventive show was canceled.
We love this show. It took me a few shows to understand, and then NBC cancels it.We were not happy to hear NBC canceled it. It deserves to have another season. Shame on youNBC
Please keep Ordinary Joe or another network pick it up. We need shows like this one right now. Please!!!!!!!!
The show was great! The son is amazing! A bit confusing to follow at times but that’s what made it fun and compelling…and it was insightful to see that the famous track had greater perks but also exponentially greater complications… I love that in one version, the wife is married to his best friend— that’s such an awesome twist! Finally, the 9/11 episode was so touching— such a tribute to the heros on that day and showed such a personal take on it… reconsider this decision and give us more.
I found this to be a very interesting, and different show. I am older than 49, and the networks are apparently only interested in people 18-49 years old. Do they think that we don’t watch TV, or buy their products, if that’s what they think, they are SO wrong !
Definately disappointed! I was a big fan and I hope it gets picked up by another network! This series was one of the few I watched last year! Great cast and relatable characters. Will miss this show.
Yes I am very disappointed this is cancelled! There is so much garbage on tv that has been on for years. It’s a shame a decent show doesn’t make it. I hope another network will pick it up!
Why is that? Oh nobody watches the show, but maybe some network will pick it up, so me and myself can enjoy it as long as I want? If it gets canceled on big networks, it won’t make it magically great on a smaller one. No shows succeeded the switch. Lucifer, Mindy project, Younger, were all stretched out unnecessarily.
I really enjoyed this show! I am not happy it has ben cancelled.
This show had a good idea but it was annoying to watch. I’m not surprised it got low numbers. I tried to watch it but couldn’t.
I really enjoyed this show, something different type.
Yet more stupid game and matchmaking shows. Who the heck enjoys crap like love island and new ones. I just don’t get their idiotic decisions.
I am dissappointed to say the least that this has been canceled. It was a show that made you think to follow the 3 lives but was light and easy to watch. I agree ,if it’s not some reality crap then it gets cancelled and I for one can’t and don’t watch any of that crap.
I very much wanted to like this show, and waited for something to happen to make the triple-parallel versions of Joe’s life to have any reason to co-exist or for me to pay attention to which plotline was happening to which version. I waited in vain for the former, and though I watched them all, I never got any of the timelines straight. I still can’t recall which version was which. It’s absolutely not surprising that most people gave up before the end, to the rxtent that NBC saw no hope of any potential for ratings improvement in a second… Read more »
This is so disappointing to me. The show was very interesting and kept the viewers on their toes. I think the cancellation is a big mistake! How can we fans voice our support?
If it’s not reality crap it gets cancelled.
