Though the ratings have fallen quite a bit, CBS renewed Person of Interest for a fifth season. Now we’ve learned that the TV show may be ending.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
Deadline reports that, of the CBS shows that have been renewed, POI was the only one to not receive a full season order. At this point, season five will only have 13 episodes.
This is just what happened with The Mentalist a year ago — a series that was also produced by outside studio Warner Bros TV. It was rumored to be that show’s final season many months before the network would confirm it. With this short season renewal, it’s looking like history may repeat itself with POI.
If CBS does indeed cancel POI, the studio could potentially try to find another home for it. While the network doesn’t have a financial stake in the series, the studio does. By the end of next season, there will be 103 episodes — enough for a decent-sized syndication package.
It’s worth noting that the studio already has an off-network deal with WGN America for the series. That cable channel has been producing their own dramas Salem and Manhattan. The ratings have been very tiny for those shows but perhaps WGN could be an option to keep Person of Interest going.
What do you think? Should season five be the end for Person of Interest? Would you watch a sixth season on another channel?
I love Person Of Intrest and I hope they do not cancel it. I personally think it’s one of the better shows on the network. I would definitely watch season 6.
I like the series Person of Interest very much. If Cbs lets the series go They are stupid. I hope another station picks up the series.
Sarah shahi is the best and Amy acker is awesome .the show is great .the fans are hurting ..we need poi ..
Are you kiddin me cancel the show it ibest on TV .root and shaw are awesome together .and all of the team .what is wrong with CBS..come on Nolan stick up for your show ..
This show can not afford to be cancelled. Shaw’s charater has not returned, the machine is offline and samaritian is still in the open leaving the war to be far from over. Plus I don’t think the new series Supergirl and rush hour look that appealing at all. They look terrible and won’t last long.
Theres no way this show is going end this soon. They still have so much to tell and they have to bring shaw back. The machine is offline and samaritan is in the open which means the war is far from over. Plus how could they possibly end the series like that with only 13 eps. we’ve all seen the season finale. It would be inpossible to do that and would make a horrible ending for the series. Plus i dont think the new series supergirl and rush hour is going to last that long.
Person of Interest is the one show I watch regularly on CBS.
I would definitely watch Person of Interest on WGN Network
or any other network! All Person of Interest fans- remember
that Longmire was cancelled by A&E and then revived by Netflix-
because of their fans!
CBS should renew CSI it is been a great series and is something that I hope family and everybody that I know loves that series please don’t let it be cancelled renew the series of CSI
RENEW!
I won’t be watching any new CBS shows. I’m tired of reality shows taking priority, and refuse to watch them, and tired of the only age range they look at being the 18 – 39 yr old. This will eventually come back to bite them.
I Would like to see the show continue. Would watch on any channel.
So many of the good shows are being taken off and its really irritating that they seem to only focus on the young people 18 to 39 not realizing that it’s the older people who actually buy their products. Please keep this series going bring back Shaw and let’s at least have another couple of years. I love this show I’ve watched it from the beginning.
Keep this show running it’s the best most suspenseful series on TV. There so much that it shows that will soon be full blown in the future.
Keep the show alive. One of the few shows my husband and I agree on watching together.
There are many more story lines there to the imaginative writer.
Great show. Let’s hope we don’t lose this one.
I used to love this show but this year I could just not get interested. I do appreciate when networks do more episodes to finish the story line and allow viewers to have closure. Will definitely watch the final episodes.
Keep this show going! I miss Shaw. I loved the snarky comments she would say now and then. Her and Root had great chemistry in scenes together. Tuesday night is all CBS shows for my TV viewing. They need to go back to helping people on the show and get away from the convoluted Samaritan storyline. I am sad to see the Elias character die off. I liked episodes where he appeared. Get rid of “Survivor”, “Amazing Race” and “Big Brother.” I think reality shows on all the channels should get eliminated. Their heyday is done.
I agree completely with Lisa.
I love this show, but do think they got off track with Samaritan, and just kept digging the hole deeper. They should not have killed off Carter, but need to bring back Shaw, get the Samaritan arc over quickly and get back to the original premise. Nobody will care if the machine is rebuilt during the hiatus and come back on what would be several months in the future, in order to speed up finishing the Samaritan arc.
