How is Sara Gilbert handling the Roseanne cancellation? Recently, the star discussed ABC’s decision to end the TV show on The Talk, Deadline reports.
As reported earlier, ABC quickly axed Roseanne after star Roseanne Barr posted offensive statements on Twitter. The cast also includes Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fishman, Alicia Goranson, Emma Kenny, and Sarah Chalke.
On The Talk, Gilbert said she’s sad about Roseanne ending but agrees with ABC‘s decision to cancel the sitcom:
I will say I’m proud of the show we made. This show has always been about diversity, love and inclusion, and it’s sad to see it end in this way. I’m sad for the people who lost their jobs in the process. However, I do stand behind the decision ABC made.”
Watch Gilbert’s full statement below:
What do you think? Did you see the Roseanne reboot? Do you agree with ABC’s decision to cancel the series?
I don’t like Roseanne Barr and have never watched her show. But there is this thing called Freedom of Speech. The show should have been left on and the audience should have been allowed to ‘vote’. If ratings dropped like a rock, then cancel, but if not, leave it on. If Roseanne had to go, so should Samantha Bee of Full Frontal for calling Ivanka Trump a word I will not repeat. (google it if you don’t know this story.) In my mind, both statements were equally insulting.
Buster, you are so 100% correct!! Thanks for saying so!!
The rest of the cast and the crew should NOT have to be punished because of the rascist and, facist Rosann. Ban her form media for good and let the cast and crew continue. Be best for all.
Way too much ado – Roseanne Barr’s comments should have nothing to do with the show. It hurts the actors, crew, writers, staff, AND the fans. And pulling the re-runs? What sense is there in that? Why should everyone suffer?
I think it was an extreme knee jerk reaction

I stand with ABC there were others shows that were cancelled and I liked better
Roseann was totally out of line. Sad for all those who put their heart and soul into the show. I loved it, but she left them no choice but to do the right thing and cancel the show.
Shame on you Roseann.
No Shame on ABC, we have a little thing in America called Freedom of Speech.
Doesn’t spare us from having to suffer the consequences of what we say, however. Her remarks were racist, and totally out of line.
