NBC didn’t find much ratings success with Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls so the show was cancelled. Now, they’re trying a celebrity twist with Running Wild with Bear Grylls. Will it be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for season two?
On Running Wild with Bear Grylls, adventurer Bear Grylls takes celebrities to remote locations across the world, on journeys that push the physical and mental stamina. The first celebrities are actor Zac Efron, actor-director Ben Stiller, actor Channing Tatum, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, actor Tom Arnold, and Today anchor Tamron Hall.
The series debuted at the end of July to a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.43 million viewers. That was a decent start for a summer reality show. The second episode dipped a bit in the ratings but last week’s Channing Tatum installment hit a new series high with a 1.5 in the demo and 4.54 million.
While Running Wild’s ratings aren’t great, the show is performing better than most of the other shows on the network this summer. These days, it’s hard to find a new summer series that isn’t bombing.
It’s a reality show so likely doesn’t cost the network very much and, with the celebrities that have been taking part, Running Wild can help attract new viewers to NBC’s Monday night schedule.
For these reasons, it seems very likely that Running Wild with Bear Grylls will be renewed for a second season.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Running Wild with Bear Grylls series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Love this show. Haven’t missed an episode. I hope they renew it.
Love it Love it Love it. Please keep it running. I even bought the Bear Grylls Ultimate Pro Fixed Blade Knife after the first show with Zach Efron.
I love this show!!
Channing Tatum was the Best!
THIS IS A GREAT SHOW…IT EXPOSES US TO THE BEST OF NATURE AND I LOVED EVERY MONMENT OF THE SHOW
I vote to KEEP this series. Very entertaining to watch these celebs we “think” we know (and find out more about them as normal people) from the safety of my living room.
I’m tired of the survival genre with its scripted drama so it’s a no go for me. I watched the first episode but have not since watched any more episodes…
I like it hope they don’t cancel. I would say its one of this networks top 3 or 4 shows.
Love it….keep them coming.
I really like the Running Wild! I think Bear is interesting and entertaining. Taking regular humans on the two day treks is very inspiring and fun.
I would like to see it on NBC for at least another season.
This show is terrible. Very scripted. Every episode is the same and completely faked. It is obvious that they do not sleep outside and that it all takes place in the same day. The shadows and the horrible “night time” effect give it all away.
Love the show! I like the every day people and I like the A listers….love this show! Please keep it on air!!! Why is it that the good stuff is always targeted for cancelation?
Fastest hour of television-It’s GREAT!!!
I couldn’t care less about celebrities, less so about reality shows and even less about celebrities on reality shows. Perhaps they should take the celebrities out in the wild and leave them there.
I love Bear Grylls love this show.
Don’t care one way or the other. It’s just too bad that he has to take “stars” out on these little adventures and not just every day people who can’t afford to do something like that. Kinda like “Who do you think you are.” They do the free ancestory seaches for people who can well afford to pay to have it done for them while the rest of us pay or do without. In this day and age I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d like to get those special perks at hotels, restaurants, theme parks and what have… Read more »
I agree with you Rose. You had me with the “taking every day people” and TOTALLY had me with the “Who Do You Think You Are?” These folks can afford it. I preferred last years “Get out Alive with Bear Grylls”.. sure it had it’s issues, but we met everyday people from around the country that had back stories that made them interesting. That failed, so.. they do what they normally do, get a few beefy young stars to bring in the viewers.. and as the numbers show, it’s worked.
Thanks Terry!
I agree too. I really like Bear and wish they did his get out alive again. But the celebrities get all the perks. They get to model, do commercials, ancestry for free, do voice overs for animated movies, and sing in them too. So that pushed a lot of people who would get jobs out of the way. I love watching Bear and the crazy things and places he goes too. We need more Bear and less celebrities.
