Will there be another season of The Dangerous Book for Boys? Deadline reports the Amazon TV show may not return for a second season.
Based on the bestselling book, the the comedy-drama follows the McKenna family as they mourn and adapt to the death of patriarch Patrick (Chris Diamantopoulos). The cast also includes Gabriel Bateman, Drew Powell, Kyan Zielinski, Erinn Hayes, Athan Sporek, Sophia Valinotti, and Swoosie Kurtz.
Speaking to Deadline, Prime Video chief Jennifer Salke revealed The Dangerous Book for Boys may not be renewed for a season two:
We’re still talking to them, but I would say it’s looking very tough for the cost of the show. It’s really difficult, coming from the genre where it exists and the kind of audience it’s drawing. The math doesn’t quite work.”

We love Dangerous Book of Boys! We have 2 boys (15 & 7) and its very hard to find a show that is appropriate for all of us to watch and that we enjoy. Please move forward with Season 2!
The Dangerous Book for Boys…is charming, and well acted. It is definitely a good watch for the whole family. I hope there is a season 2 plus!
This show was absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I have two boys, so far, and want more boys. We have a 3 year old and a 6 month old. We discovered this show and loved it immediately. We couldn’t stop watching. We laughed, cried and laughed some more! We would definitely love to see more of this show. It helped us realize the future we want for our boys and how much we never want to part. If this show did continue to many more seasons, it’s something I would love to binge watch with the family. Great family entertainment! Shows the power of imagination and balances the line between being too little or too big for my 6 year old.
I think Dangerous Book for Boys is one of the best shows out right now. It is very well written and heartfelt. It is very good family entertainment. I really hope it gets picked up for a second season!
I couldn’t agree more! My son is 12yo and loves the book… and loves the adaptation to a tv series on Amazon even more! It’s not often you find a show that both parents AND kids enjoy this much together. I hope that Amazon tv execs get this worked out, I’d really love to see / share many more seasons of this with my family!
