The Orville is returning for its third season after a long absence but, season three is likely the end of the Hulu series. Series creator/star Seth MacFarlane and the other members of the cast were released from their contracts in August and have moved on to other projects. If a fourth season were to be made, it would likely be difficult to reassemble the entire cast.
Also starring Scott Grimes, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Peter Macon, J Lee, Mark Jackson, Jessica Szohr, and Anne Winters, the series is “set 400 years in the future and follows The U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the problems of everyday life..”
The third season of The Orville has been a long time in coming. The series originally aired on FOX and was renewed for a third season but was subsequently moved to Hulu. Production was delayed by the pandemic.
The Orville: New Horizons (aka season three) premieres on Hulu on June 2nd.
What do you think? Are you excited about the return of The Orville? Are you hoping for a fourth season someday?
Why dose everyone want this show to end…. It’s a good show which we should try and get as many seasons out of it.. stop trying to destroy something that is great because we the fans should get an ending which ties everything up instead of cliffe hanger end which destroy the program
“Why dose everyone want this show to end” no one does
Such a fun show, would love to see several more seasons. Great mix of humor and cool Syfy stuff.
Guarantee that if the show was still on network Tv, it would have a minimum 5 year run! The show lost 75% of their viewers when tyey left network TV
This is such sad news. I loved the show, but more importantly I think it was a very special and personal project for Seth.
I hate all of the speculation going on pertaining to The Orville. People saying it’s cancelled, or that S3 will be the last one since the actors have moved on to other projects. They have to wait for the numbers to come in (probably half way through S3) to determine if more seasons are viable. Meanwhile, actors do other projects. That’s how the industry works. It’s not their fault it has taken so long to get S3 to us. I’ve seen so many people say that if S3 is the last one, then they won’t bother watching… which will actually… Read more »
I expected this after the announcement of a “Ted” series. Too bad. The Orville is better than any Star Trek out there right now and definitely better than any “Ted” series they can come up with.
Maybe season 4 begins The Orville Movies! Hey Paramount!
At this point why even bother? It’s been so long since the last season wouldn’t it have been better to wrap it up with a 2 hour movie or something?
I loved the Orrville, but it’s been so long I don’t even think I’ll watch season 3, especially if that’s it.
I guess I’m most upset with Hulu for releasing them from their contracts. Regardless of pandemic filming delays, why would you have not signed on for at least two seasons when it moved from Fox? The series has exceeded all my expectations and while I have never been impressed with Fox’s ability
to recognize great shows, I thought Hulu was a bit better with these things. Let’s hope they will come to their senses and work with the cast. June can’t arrive fast enough. Season 3, I am ready!
I loved The Orville- Very best Sci. Fi series on TV. The storyline was engaging, & so well written. The production/ cinematography was fantastic!! I haven’t followed any TV series since it left. I’m so disappointed that I can’t get Hulu, & resent the loss to regular TV channels.
I’ve been a Star Trek avid fan. This had the same spirit.
What’s the point of having a third season if it’s not going to continue? I love the Orville but my husband and I didn’t wait two years for the third season just to have it cancelled. Well, hopefully it will end and provide closure, unlike Dark Matter.
I’ve been rewatching the first two seasons in anticipation of the 3rd. Reading this, makes me wonder why they even bothered. A couple years break and network change just for one season.
Love the show. Have waited for next season for a two year now. Hope Seth comes up with a new program. Love his stuff
“The Orville” is a better Star Trek show than half of the official Star Trek shows (especially that Enterprise thing with the theme song that sounded like a late 80s hair band ballad)
It’s bad enough that we had to wait this long for a third season. Now they’re pulling the plug?? Worse yet, to make a “Ted” series?? Really?? That concept didn’t even make two good movies.
We can’t get Hulu in the UK so I don’t know if I’ll ever get to see it, but I would love for it to keep going.
Disney own Hulu and will likely put it in Disney+ in the UK along with the Season 1 & 2.
