Nathan Fillion has been known to say that all of his TV series get cancelled, but the last one to meet that fate, Castle, ran for eight seasons on ABC before its awkward cancellation. Now Firefly‘s Cap’n Tightpants is back in a whole new uniform, in The Rookie TV show. Can the first season pass the muster that is the Nielsen ratings? An ABC comedy-drama, The Rookie stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, Afton Williamson, and Eric Winter. The story centers on John Nolan (Fillion), a small-town guy who, after a life-changing experience, decides to pursue his dream of being an LAPD officer. Now he’s the oldest rookie on the force, and the brass thinks he’s just having a midlife crisis. He’s got to keep up with his younger co-workers (not to mention young criminals) or he’ll risk lives. Maybe though, he can use the experience he’s gained with age, and the determination he has developed over the years, to make a real go of it. Either way, he’s got a secret weapon — his sense of humor.

I, am enjoying The Rookie, I, am 67, retired and I, like the fact that there is interaction between all the cast… so tired of Hondo’s SWAT Character taking most of the story line.. there are more members in that team… every time I, watch SWAT I, think.. who the heck is the Asian Char… develop characters… with The Rookie.. they are filling in on the past.. showing interacting plot line. YOUR KILLING ME with the extended waiting periods run the show and IT WILL get better ratings you jumping it around to later days than expected are killing the audience I myself have said forget it and will watch it later on hulu cause I am tired of getting caught up just for you to push it out GET IT TOGETHER ABC!!!!!!!!
Please renew the Rookie as we love it and look forward to another season. We try to watch every week, but DVR it in case we miss! Love the storyline as a whole and especially enjoy the underlying storylines of the individual characters. This is very well written and has a great cast. Looking forward to MANY seasons!!
My husband and I really like The Rookie. We love the variety of characters. There are good story lines, the characters are human and relatable, there’s humour, and the action can be intense at times. We look forward to each week.

I really like the show. The characters have depth. The writing is real. I was totally shocked at the season ender – not what I expected – and I like that. Keep it going!!
Just started watching this show and I love it. Really hope it doesn’t get cancelled
I have come to loathe Hollywood. The show last night is one reason why. A cop goes through a MURDER investigation and LIES about another person not being present. This is a MURDER investigation. I wouldn’t be able to go on working with people knowing that, in such an important spot, I lied. But, that’s what Hollywood is and does, pushes out great values.
The Rookie is one of the best TV shows that My Family and Myself have been able to sit down and watch together. We like that it has a good mixture of Drama, Humor and Action. Nathan Fillion and the rest of the cast are great!
The Rookie is by far one the best police dramas with more scenarios that are relatable to every day people not just the American police force. Best series I have seen since lethal weapon
Yes renew the show. I enjoy a show that doesn’t rely on bombs lengthy fights and car crashes for rating and this show has characters and relationships and is entertaining. Sometimes I think tv and movies think that just shocking and stress is all there is. P
Attention writers: LAPD shows. Too many competing interests. It would be really amazing if you could come up with a way to synergize the three “failing rating” shows like merge them????? Lethal weapon is not really Lethal Weapon anymore without RIGGS character? Rookie just needs a push same as a real rookie/boot, still in the development phase; yet promising. Rookie Blue; at least made it to 5 seasons!!! SWAT… Hondo needs to evolve his one man show mentality….. Three shows into one? Are the viewers from hulu like myself and I’m sure others taken into count on a shows ratings? If not there algorithms are f’ed and they need to fix it before a good show gets shut down.
