Clare and Henry’s tale has come to a close. HBO has cancelled The Time Traveler’s Wife so the couple won’t be returning for a second season. The six episodes of the first season finished airing on June 19th.
A science-fiction romance series that was based on the novel by Audrey Niffenegger, The Time Traveler’s Wife TV show stars Rose Leslie, Theo James, Desmin Borges, and Natasha Lopez. The story follows the out-of-order love story between Clare Abshire (Leslie), and Henry DeTamble (James). They have a marriage with a significant problem — time travel. At six years old, Clare meets Henry, the future love of her life. Unbeknownst to her, he’s a time traveler who is actually visiting from the future. Some 14 years later, a beautiful redhead wanders into the library where Henry works. She claims to have known him all her life and to also be his future wife. From there, a magical romance ensues that is as sprawling and complicated as Henry’s attempts to explain his “condition”.
The first season of The Time Traveler’s Wife averaged a 0.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 223,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). It was a moderate performer in the traditional ratings and HBO didn’t tout its delayed or streaming numbers so that would seem to indicate that it wasn’t a big hit in those categories either.
“Though HBO will not be moving forward with a second season of The Time Traveler’s Wife, it was our privilege to partner with master storytellers Steven Moffat and David Nutter,” an HBO spokeswoman told Deadline. “We are so grateful for their passion, hard work, and care for adapting this beloved book. We also thank Theo and Rose, and the rest of our brilliant cast for their heartfelt performances, which completely captivated audiences.”

I thought The Time Travelers wife was amazing with brillant leads Theo Jame and Rose Leslie. Very upset the series is cancelled. Excellent show with beautiful story. HBO should cancel alot of their other shows which are useless and full of violence. I. hope something happens where they bring the show back for Season 2. You never know…… I love HBO’s The Time Traveler’s Wife. Steven Moffat and David Nutter are the best storytellers.

I have been looking for the next episode for 2 weeks just to find out it’s canceled!! Are you kidding??? The acting was excellent, the story was broader than the 2003 movie, with deeper character development . How could HBO cut us off without finishing the story??? What poor judgement, is it really all about ratings? You are missing an artist moment and statement HBO!! Booo on you
I’m disappointed as this was one of the best new series of the season, but I understand due to the moderate ratings. That being said, networks have given moderate performers another season and increased advertising to help increase viewership. If they had a longer season, then people might’ve been more eager to give it a try. I think the low episode count was a significant turn off to potential viewers in a genre that is struggling right now, i.e., romantic drama.
Very disappointed it was cancelled. Hbo is getting lame.

So disappointed. Just finished watching the sixth episode. So gutted there are no more episodes and no season 2. Why???

Loved this show from the first episode, so disappointed it has been cancelled. I really hope it gets picked up by another network and to think Theo James quit Sanditon after S1 had ended and then had to be written out of the series (killed off) at the very beginning of S2 by way of a funeral (another disappointment) to appear in TTTW. The TV industry seems so fickle these days with many shows being cancelled after only one series…sad!

I am so disappointed the story won’t reach its conclusion. It is a haunting and beautiful story and deserves to be seen in its entirety.

So diasppointed that the show was cancelled. I was hooked after the first episode. What a facinating story! I hope someone else will pick it up or HBO will reconsider. Does love not sell anymore? So sad.
I thought The Time Traveler’s Wife was fascinating. I didn’t realize the six th episode was the finale. Very disappointed it’s canceled if there’s a chance it could come back with comments looks like I’m the first.
