The Transplant team is on the move at NBC. The Canadian medical drama series is relocating to Saturday nights starting this Saturday, May 28th at 8:00 PM. Is the series being cancelled or could it still return for a third season?
The Transplant TV show stars Hamza Haq, Laurence Leboeuf, John Hannah, Jim Watson, Ayisha Issa, Linda E. Smith, Torri Higginson, Gord Rand, Nora Guerch, and Ahmad Meree. Doctor Bashir Hamed (Haq) is a charismatic Syrian doctor with battle-tested skills in emergency medicine. He and his younger sister, Amira (Gulamgaus), flee their war-torn homeland and become refugees, struggling to forge a new life in Canada. When a horrific truck crash nearly kills a senior doctor right in front of him, Bash saves the doctor’s life and earns a residency in the biggest Emergency Department of the best hospital in Toronto. Bash tries to meet the demands of his new country and a new job, while trying to pay the bills, raise his little sister and carve out a new life for them both in this unfamiliar land. In season two, boss Dr. Jed Bishop (Hannah) has suffered a stroke and Bash and his team must adjust to both new colleagues and new challenges.
Airing on Sunday nights, the second season of Transplant has been averaging a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.18 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (includes all DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Compared to season one, that’s down by 64% in the demo and down by 66% in viewership. It’s the lowest-rated series currently on NBC.
The series is produced in Canada by Sphere Media in association with CTV and Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group (a part of NBC’s parent company, NBCUniversal).
Transplant was renewed for a third season in February and since NBCUniversal co-produces the drama, it makes sense that one of the corporation’s outlets will release season three in the United States. If viewership is too low to justify airing it on NBC, a move to the Peacock streaming service seems likely. Hulu currently carries the first season and all of the already-released episodes of season two.
What do you think? Have you kept up with the Transplant TV series? Are you hoping that NBC will pick up season three? Would you watch on Hulu or Peacock?
I enjoy the show but there has been too much drama this season. Season 1 had Bash doing miraculous things. The show has lost sight of what made it so good, and that is Bash being Bash.
I absolutely love this show. i so hope they dont screw it up. Its a really great cast.
Great show but needs to stay on NBC. NO peacock or Hulu for me.
I can’t believe that this show could be cancelled, I love this show. Five shows that I love have been cancelled this year and crappy shows have replaced them. What is going on!
This is a great show! I hope it gets renewed.
I hope this show continues on NBC. There were challenges in watching the show due to special programming. I am so tired of good shows being canceled. I love this show! It is encouraging to see the diversity of races and roles that are portrayed. I have it set on my dvr just in case I miss it.
NBC sure wasn’t doing the show favors delaying airings of it for other shows. They could have canceled La Brea and put Transplant in its place. If anything, NBC is why the ratings went down, and they will kill it for that alone.
Love this show, please keep it going.
No Hulu or Peacock!
I have watched every episode of Transplant. I love Hamza Haq–his accent, his gentle manner, even his beautiful eyelashes, and I also love John Hanna. I think it’s a smart medical drama, without the usual gimmicks. Please, NBC, keep Transplant.
We have been enjoying the series Transplant and look forward to seeing the story line of Bashir. Please don’t cancel it. Please don’t force us to pay for Peacock TV.
As you’re probably aware, Peacock does have a free plan but you’ll have to wait one week before you can watch Transplant. However, if you do want to see it at the next day, Peacock has a premium plus plan, I believe it’s called, which is/was approx. $50 per year. So that might be an option for other NBC shows that you may like.
I love the series and actively work at watching it. Networks doom shows by frequently moving them around on the schedule. I can stream many shows, but tend for forget about them if the regular viewing schedule is disrupted.
Maybe more people would continue to watch it if it was on more consistent then it has been.
I love this show! Please don’t cancel it and keep it on NBC. I won’t watch on Peacock or Hulu.
please keep transplant on nbc!
Greetings! My wife and I are enjoying Transplant throughly. We’ve been with since the beginning. By comparison, I can, easily, miss The Good Doctor. My wife watches that show, regularly.
Transplant feels real. The characters and plots are smart, interesting, and engaging.
Perhaps NBC can promote a bit more. It doesn’t seem that dividing season two is doing the show any favors. Consider running season one and two through the Summer. Bash & Co. deserve better. They are certainly giving us better. And, John Hannah, is quite special.
