In October, NBC decided not to order any additional episodes of the low-rated series, Trauma, essentially canceling the show after 13 episodes. Then, a few weeks later, NBC ordered three additional installments, likely because they anticipated holes in their spring schedule and the show’s producers were able to significantly cut production costs.
The show’s been off the air since November but the network has now announced that it’s coming back. Is there a chance that the show could actually see a second season?
Taking place in San Francisco, Trauma follows a group of first responders who risk their lives to save others. The cast includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The network recently announced that they were cancelling The Jay Leno Show as of February 12th. That means that, when NBC finishes airing its coverage of the Winter Olympics, the network will have five more hours of primetime to fill. That’s good news for Trauma.

NBC has announced that Trauma will be returning to Monday nights starting on March 8th. They’ve also just ordered three additional episodes, bringing the season total to 20. That means that there are 10 new episodes of Trauma to come.
If the new episodes of Trauma can attract significantly more viewers, the show might have a very good shot at being renewed — especially if the show can continue to be produced economically.
At the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Angela Bromstad, NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President, didn’t rule out the show having a future and the new episode order is certainly promising.
However, NBC has plans to beef up their pilot development for next season. The network will develop 10 dramas and eight half-hour comedies. For Trauma to get a spot on the 2010-11 schedule, the low-rated series will have to inspire more confidence than the new shows.
What do you think? Do you think Trauma has a real chance at survival or is it still doomed?

why is it you really really like a new show and they cancel it for another stupid sit-com. are we living in the age of sit-com mentality.(duh!) i’m watching more hulu and netflix and reading alot more(good thing) i swear if thay cancel trauma i’m throwing the tv thru the window!!! what’s the matter with you egg-heads!!!
I would love to meet the idiot in charge of removing Trauma. My husband and I LOVE this show. Please reconsider and read all of the comments about this amazing show. I hope we at least get to see a season finale versus just leaving everything in limbo. GEESH!!!!
My husband and I LOVE Trauma…hope it can come back!!
From a good source I found out that the alleged recasting in fall is not going to continue due to the revocation of the network’s budget agreement with the casting agency. Trauma will not return and will be cancelled for good after the remaining episodes.
I just cannot believe that NBC is taking Trauma off the air, AGAIN. NBC has one of the BEST shows on Monday nights & ratings aren’t high enough??? Give me a break and get Trauma back on the airways.
this network, nbc, is run by a bunch of idiots. Trauma is a great show. if it is cancelled i suggest all fans inundate the nbc offices with bandages. they are going to need them if they keep taking good shows off the air, as the the life of their network will slowly bleed away.
i’ve just watched the whole first season of Trauma and i love it. NBC you better keep this show on air and keep the episodes coming because this one is going to the top and you don’t like it ya jerks
I agree with Lorraine. I think we should all change networks when we have to watch old episodes of Law & Order, and Law & Order SVU, as well as keep promoting A Minute To Win It, with Guy. How many times can we watch that stupid show with the Chef. I love Guy, but on the food network.
Lets try and show NBC, we deserve better programming. We are not all reality show watchers, and we want our Trauma back.
I think NBC has put the Trauma comments in “ignore.”.
I have submitted comments before, but it bears repeating: PLEASE, PLEASE, KEEP TRAUMA ON THE AIR. WE NEVER MISS IT AND LOOK FORWARD TO IT!
Thanks for considering this.
Coug said it very well..Leave Trauma on the air !!
I have watched Trauma and love it,so I hope it makes a come back.
The networks are cancelling numerous shows with excellent ratings, and I wonder which idiot makes these decisions. I LOVE Trauma. Please keep it. Thanks
I’m not sure what is going on with the big networks these days. I don’t know where they’re getting their numbers from but I’m much afraid the technique they’re using to see how many people are watching is completely outdated. Millions of people DON’T watch live shows anymore, they TEVO it, DVR it, or watch it online. I am convinced that the information you all are gathering is false or incomplete. The public is so tired of being introduced to new show after new show, leaving it on just long enough for people to really get to like it, then… Read more »
I agree. I only watch hulu and netflix. There have been several shows that I’ve really liked and they stopped them after one or two seasons. Not all shows can be #1 in a particular time slot. There is only room for one at the top, but that doesn’t mean the other shows are bad. Please keep Trauma – it’s got the right amount of action and character development. It takes more than 1 season to really do a good job on character development – that takes time.
I agree, I loved so many other shows and they got cancelled. Moonlight and everyone loved Alex O’Loughlin, you tease us, then drop. I heard Cheers had low ratings then they gave it another chance and it ran for 12 yrs. Give Trauma and Mercy a whole season or season and 1/2 to let people have a chance to enjoy
doomed!
