“CRIME WATCH DAILY” HAS A NEW HOST AND A NEW NAME: “CRIME WATCH DAILY WITH CHRIS HANSEN”
(August 22, 2016 – Burbank, CA) – The Emmy-nominated syndicated series “Crime Watch Daily” will have a new host and a new name when the show premieres its second season on Monday, September 12, 2016, with veteran investigative journalist Chris Hansen joining the show, which will now be called “Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen.” Hansen is the famed crime reporter best known for his headline-making investigations on “Dateline NBC,” where he helped put 300 predators behind bars with his hidden camera series “To Catch a Predator.”The announcement was made today by creator/executive producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey, who said: “There isn’t a bigger, more respected name in crime reporting than Chris Hansen. We hunted down Chris the way he hunts down predators to take this job. We are excited to have him lead our amazing team of correspondents, to build on our success and take ‘Crime Watch Daily’ to the next level.”
Hansen will bring his hugely popular “Predator” franchise back to life on the show in a revamped, broader-reaching new signature series called “Hansen vs. Predator.” In these segments, Hansen will help bust a new breed of child predators that can now target children through a myriad of new social media platforms. He will also go after predatory teachers, dirty politicians, financial scammers and even celebrities.
“I am thrilled to join the extraordinary team at ‘Crime Watch Daily,’” says Hansen. “It’s a perfect platform for enterprise reporting. I can’t wait to get started!”
The prominent TV journalist has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including eight Emmy Awards for investigative reporting, outstanding coverage of a news story and outstanding coverage of breaking news. A graduate of Michigan State University, Hansen also hosts the Investigation Discovery (ID) series “Killer Instinct,” now entering its second season.
“The name Chris Hansen is synonymous with crime fighting,” said executive producers Scott Eldridge and Jeremy Spiegel. “We can’t wait to come out of the gate with all-new takedowns as Chris expands his net to other types of predators. He lives and breathes crime, so this is the perfect fit.”
For its second season, Hansen will anchor the Emmy-nominated series from the streets of New York City, while the show maintains its newsroom in Los Angeles. Hansen will lead the show’s team of crime-fighting reporters that includes Matt Doran, Jason Mattera, Ana Garcia, Andrea Isom and Michelle Sigona.
Returning in a showcased new role is special correspondent Elizabeth Smart, an activist and journalist who came to national attention in 2002 when she was abducted from her Salt Lake City home at the age of 14. What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Crime Watch Daily TV series? Do you plan to tune in for Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen? Tell us.
Chris Hansen w/ no law enforcement background is pestering families at home w/ silly questions about crimes committed. He is as bad as the bimbo Paula who asks families
questions like, ‘How did you feel when your husband was murdered?’ The best emcees for crime programs are Bill Kurtis and the older guy w/ 3 words in his program name
that I can’t recall.
I enjoy good crime programs.
I have story to tell. About my sister n law,she murder by a serial killer that killing prostitute n Orlando and Sanford florida with a GPS tracking device”Home arrest”.that supposed to be montoring his every move. But he was murdering females.

Why was Matt Doran replaced with has been Chris Hansen? I really enjoyed Crimewatch Daily when Matt Doran hosted, now, not so much. IN fact, I no longer watch. You messed with a good thing for a “bigger name” and I feel your ratings will and already have suffered!!
Where has Matt Doran gone & why?
I absolutely love this show! Mixed feelings about To catch a Predator. It seems like entrapment, but I suppose they are indeed catching a predator not necessarily a pedophile. Otherwise, the show is awesome & Amy Smart is an incredibly brave & courageous woman!! The show is lucky to have her!
I absolutely do not like Chris Hanson, or his To Catch a Predator show! They aren’t taking hardcore pedophiles of the street. They are entrapping sad, depressed men, who these people know are easy targets, and they put this crap right there in their faces, and these men who already feel depressed about the state their lives are in, possibly their wives have left them, they’re feeling like they’re not attractive anymore, and here comes this attractive young thing telling them that they are still sexy! Of course it’s going to boost their egos and make common sense go right… Read more »
I liked Matt Doran better than Chris Hanson because I have seen enough of him on Investigation Discovery and he is still on that show and in fact, too much…. Matt brings so much to the program with his leadership and he is so down to earth as you can see his feelings in regard to crime victims and their families while Chris doesn’t as he is stoned faced with no personality nor feelings. Please bring Matt Doran as host……. Thank you
I agree. I no longer am interested nor do I watch Crime Watch Daily bc Matt Doran is No Longer hosting this show. U have to question America’s interest more in Car races, football over wonderful programs like Ameticas Most Wanted. I myself lived in South Fl 21 yrs., worked at SSA & racetrack as did my husband. I turned in a criminal I saw on AMC as did a co-worker of mine. We would Never have known unless these type of tv shows r kept on the air. Do u know 800,000 children/ppl go missing every year in America?… Read more »
I have a right to my opinion. Thankyou.
I think it SUCKS that they replaced Matt Doran with Chris Hansen. THis show has become just another extension of “To Catch A Predator.” Which in fact I tired of a long time ago. Hearing Matt say Welcome To Crime Watch Daily!” with his excellent Aussie accent was a great part of the afternoon. Put it back the way is was!!!!
Well, I for one like Chris Hansen much better because at least I can understand him. Matt was cute but difficult to know what he was saying.
I don’t understand why it changed to Hansen as I liked Matt Doran much better and the show was better as well. Bring the old format back and I’ll start watching it again.
I think cris Hanson is WRONG PERSON to host cwd. I liked Matt much Bette. And I am a fan of Chris Hanson, but I’ve watched CWD in its first 2 weeks…..LAME! It was awful. Same old Chris Hanson crap. I really liked Matt Doran in his leadership role. I think some of the reporters are weak a ne should be replaced. They sound like the funny papers. Andrea, the older white lady, even Jason are acting with too much levity. And stop with the going to the door of people who will never talk. Can’t you just say they… Read more »
I tried watching it several times but lost interest after 2nd episode (tired of seeing Chris do the “To Catch a Predator” episodes) and of Chris Hanson. I see him enough on ID. I now watch the new judge/court shows at 2p.
As Chris Hansen has a distinguished background and entertaining to watch, I have to say he should not be the host. I have seen all the new episodes so far and have yet to see Matt Doran in any of them. He should still be the host. His accent and charm are very entertaining especially on the wild about trial debates. More Matt Doran. More Matt Doran!!!
