What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the FOX television network, the Fantasy Island TV series is based on the 1977-84 show of the same name. This incarnation stars Roselyn Sánchez, Kiara Barnes, and John Gabriel Rodriquez. The story is set at a luxury resort, where literally any fantasy requested by guests is fulfilled, although they rarely turn out as expected. Different people arrive at the resort with dreams and desires and depart enlightened and transformed through the magical realism of Fantasy Island. Elena Roarke (Sanchez) is the steward of this mysterious island and is a descendant of the iconic Mr. Roarke. Assisting Elena is Ruby Okoro (Barnes), a young woman with an old soul who arrives with a terminal illness and is given a new lease on life there. There’s also pilot Javier (Rodriquez), the head of island transportation and a jack of all trades.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Fantasy Island averaged a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.70 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. I loved Fantasy Island growing up and I love the New Fantasy Island even more. What a magical escape with profound life lessons and you’ve taken time to develop the characters where I feel connected to them. 8 Episodes was too short. Please bring back season 2 for this special and unique one of a kind show.

Don’t cancel the new fantasy island! Please bring it back
This show is pure garbage, I’ve been stuck watching this with my wife. There are so many flaws and mistakes with the writing. These writers did very little research in the episodes regarding story line. I never saw the original so I can’t compare them. It’s a women’s soap opera that’s just bad.
It was refreshing and such a good contrast from all of the reality shows on TV. The sets were beautiful, the concept was like the Fantasy Island long ago. Please please bring it back for Season 2! Really enjoyed watching and was sad to see there was only 8 episodes. Bring it back please
So disappointing. Mr Rourke and Tattoo have some big shoes to fill and this cast doesn’t seem to have the charisma. It’s awful and nothing at all compared to the old series. The cast does not seem to have chemistry and the underlying theme seems to be lesbian inspired. So far, not relatable. NOT a dis to anyone’s sexual orientation, but just not my thing. The show is trying too hard to make social statements and I’m still waiting to be inspired.
Bring back Fantasy Island, I’m so sad Season 1 has ended.

I absolutely fell in love with this series. I don’t remember the original but I really love the characters in this version. The island setting is so inviting. I want to visit! The first and last episodes were amazing. You bet I hope it’s back for season 2. I would like to see more of the Javier character and would love to see Leslie Jordan come back for more (great comedy timing). I sure hope we get more episodes in season 2.
Just watched the first season and was totally impressed with the characters, diversity, and quality of the show. My wife and I want more!
