One of the unfortunate bits of news that came out of this week’s upfronts is that FlashForward has been cancelled after just one season. The TV show’s last episode will air as scheduled next week but, can viewers expect some closure?
The story of FlashForward begins as the world’s population blacks out for a little more than two minutes and they “flash forward” to see visions of their lives six months in the future. The series’ ensemble cast includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, and Christine Woods.
In an interview with EOnline, actress Sonya Walger recently shared that, while there is some closure in the FlashForward series finale, an awful lot is left open-ended. On the positive side, the show does come full-circle from the pilot.
Walger said, “There’s another flash-forward brewing, but it remains to be seen if it happens or not… The finale is just brilliantly written. It’s so satisfying to watch how everybody ends up — or doesn’t — in the positions that they saw themselves in the pilot. Watching these chess pieces move into position so that everyone is where they saw themselves being is ingenious. And by the end of the penultimate episode, they’ve pushed everyone as far away from their final positions as they could possibly be. It’s a brilliant device.”
Walger’s own character, Olivia, will really shift her focus in the final two episodes. She says, “Olivia’s prime concern becomes Charlie, her little girl, and making sure that she’s OK. That becomes her guiding star, not if Mark (Joseph Fiennes) is all right or am I going to hook up with Lloyd (Jack Davenport). In pursuing that goal, all of these other things fall into place.”
What do you think? Do you think that you’ll still enjoy the ending of the series, even though all of the questions haven’t been answered?

I was disappointed it was cancelled. And you just know there are going to be too many unanswered questions. I want all the time I wasted watching this show back, if all I’ve got left are questions!!!
Flash Forward is too High-Brow for all the dim witted Network exec’s whom want only to try to placate the SHEEPLE with more hospital & cop shows.
Of which even the sheeple’s are also fed-up with, or that at every network/station there is little to no choice.
Yet they’ll (Networks) still take in fresh revenue of which YOU pay for at the checkout of every store/corporation that advertises on TV and give you 60% re-runs and puppet news.
I can’t see the finale giving closure as it was written and filmed before that very sad day when it was cancelled. I was gutted when FF got cancelled, hopefully ABC will see sense and renew it, if they don’t lets hope FOX picks it up as it was interested in the rights to FF before it was filmed
I cannot believe this show is being cancelled, it will be missed. I do not see how they are going to wrap up all answers in one episode. Lets hope another series begins and another after that!
THis is horrible. I only watched this show on ABC. I really got into it. I don’t watch much network television. Now ABC loses me, I hope the advertisers are happy.
I agree Advertisers take note!
Also Advertisers should know that the mathematics used to indicate the shows popularity are flawed (have it independently tested) by design. Network exec’s and Advertising agents have been pulling this scam for 40 years now. Is it any wonder people are bypassing Network and Cable TV in favour of ADD FREE stories via internet. I smell the death of TV in the air be it network or cable. Soon our TV stories will be made like cinema movies, except you’ll buy each episode much like an e-book or downloadable DVD.
Bring it ON!!!!!!
also **** WHOEVER CANCELLED IT
i am absolutly fuming about the show being cancelled i think its a joke that other shows survive an this doesnt. this show was the last of its kind it was all dats left, prison break ended, lost is now ending flashforward was the last one standing other than heroes which has gone boring, its not fair at all!!! what can i watch now?? the pacific is only 10 parts.. theres nothing that stands out. theres no other show that can come up with a better plot like prison break, lost, flash forward and even heroes. unless they come up… Read more »
I hope another network picks this up. I am having a horrible breakdown since it was cancelled.
GET FLASHFORWARD BACK!!!!! WE ALL WANT IT TO STAY!!!!
I’m very disappointed about Flash Forward’s cancellation. It was one of the best shows on the air. After the Flash Forward and LOST finales, I am done with networks. Too often the rug is pulled out from under us and too often its the best shows that inexplicably get canceled. Far better to watch cable series as there is a little more chance of stability and loyalty, and if ever a network show agian makes it through to its conclusion well, I can rent it. No more investment of my time watching it live on the air wondering if its… Read more »
HOPEFULLY The cable channels will pick up the GREAT shows the networks are canceling..Flash Forward is a great series and a concept to be worked in so many ways…so sad to see it go
Doesn’t deserve an ending nor does it deserve a second season. Sure, I started out watching this show, it was really great in the beginning. A smart plot that could of gone anywhere. It is truly sad how little they cared about this show and how the actors just give up after a few episodes. And now it is just a wast of air time.
Gah!!! This totally sucks. I was so excited to have another show like this, since Lost is going away. At least we had a few years with Lost, I was hoping for a few with FF too. 🙁 It’s too bad that people just want fluff and crap on tv instead of shows that challenge their thinking and force them to wait for answers while going crazy trying to figure it all out- that’s half the fun!! grrrrr.
I will not like the final episode if it does not answer all the questions. My wife and I enjoyed watching Flash forward and we are disappointed there will not be another season. It seems that a few of our “favorite” shows will be cancelled this year, which will leave us scrambling to find other shows to replace these cancelled ones. Why bother getting interested in a show, if the networks are just going to cancel it after one season? Very disappointed!
I agree! Me and my wife also got into watching Flash forward before Grey’s every Thursday. Very disappointed to hear about the show getting canceled. I never really got into series enough to know how it feels to have a show get canceled – but it sucks! I want to know if there will be another blackout! So many answers – no show to answer them.
very dissapointed this was one of my favorite shows smh
There will be no closure.
