Deadline reports Ellie Reed will co-star opposite Britt Robertson in the Girlboss TV show at Netflix. A 13-episode comedy series, Girlboss is inspired by Sophia Amoruso’s autobiography, #Girlboss, pictured above. Amoruso founded the fashion brand Nasty Gal.
Deadline says, “Reed will play Annie, Sophia’s best friend, who is a bit of a wild woman and the life of any party.” A writer and stage actress, Reed’s TV series work includes appearances on Betrayal, Chicago PD, Empire, and 2 Broke Girls. Created by executive producer and showrunner Kay Cannon, Girlboss is expected to premiere in 2017. Charlize Theron, Laverne McKinnon, Director Christian Ditter, and Amoruso also executive produce.
The series follows Sophia (Robertson). Netflix describes her as “a rebellious, broke anarchist who refuses to grow up.” When Sophia stumbles upon her passion for selling vintage clothing, she becomes “an unlikely businesswoman.” Netflix says that as Sophia, “… builds her retail fashion empire, she realizes the value and the difficulty of being the boss of her own life.”
What do you think? Have you read the book? Do you think Reed is a good fit as Annie? Do you plan to watch the Girlboss TV series when it drops to Netflix?
