Why did CBS just cancel most of their new TV shows? Recently, network boss Kelly Kahl spoke with Deadline about the decision to cancel Broke, Carol’s Second Act, Tommy, and God Friended Me.
With the exception of God Friended Me, which wrapped its second season this spring, all the shows cancelled debuted during the 2019-20 season. CBS also cancelled Man with a Plan, which is currently airing its fourth season.
Speaking to Deadline, Kahl revealed it was a “tough” decision to cancel Broke, God Friended Me, Carol’s Second Act, and Tommy:
At the end of the day they weren’t doing the numbers we were hoping for, and despite liking them creatively, knowing timely decisions were upon us, we had to make tough calls to move on from those shows. You want to keep them all for another season; that’s what makes these calls tough. You invest a lot of time and effort and people put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into these shows, and when you have to say goodbye. It’s a tough call.”

Tommy was my favorite new show. Broke, my least favorite.
The only cancellation I agree with is Carol’s Second Act. The rest were very good and God Friended Me was one of the best I’ve seen in a long time, and I watch very little cable TV for that very reason. I will not make the mistake of tuning into another CBS product because if I like it, the show will not be on for long.
Please bring back Tommy it was Just getting really good !!!
I watched all of these shows. We looked forward to them every week. The best was God Friended Me. I really hated to see that end. Broke was so much better than Indebted, Tommy was really good with all the twists and turns. Man with a Plan…I like it but I could see where it would end. We watched everyone of these shows and looked forward to them.
Loved God Friended Me was so excited for another season. If CBS doesn’t reconsider they should sell it to another station
So sad when I heard that God Friended Me had been cancelled. My husband and I don’t watch a lot of T.V., as there aren’t alot of shows that appeal to us because of the violence and sex.
We had really looked forward to tuning in to God Friended Me each Sunday. I would encourage CBS to rethink the decision to cancel and bring it back on a different night. Worth a try. I have talked to many others who feel the same about the cancellation.

I’m so mad at CBS, they didn’t need to cancel GOD Friended Me. I loved that show and couldn’t wait till Sunday to watch it. CBS is getting as bad as ABC, if they dont like it well we’ll just cancel it instead of leaving it on TV. They had this show on a crazy night with Football pushing it back sometimes an hour and then having other shows before that. Wht didn’t they at least try it on a new note. I love God Friended Me!! The show incorporated mystery, faith and lack thereof, along with determination to see things through the eyes of a diverse group of friends who despite their differences, collectively worked together for the good of mankind. It was a diverse show with an abundant breath of fresh air quality!! BRING IT BACK FOR ANOTHER SEASON!!!

I loved Tommy, God Friended Me and Carols second act. They were well scripted and entertaining. CBS didn’t give them a chance. Tommy is one of my favorites.
My husband and I faithfully watched God Friended Me every Sunday Night, I think it’s absolutely wrong and a huge mistake for CBS to cancel this great show !!!!!! I loved watching Tommy cause I stay up later and it was the only show I watched on Thursday night !!!! I can not stand the reality shows !! They need to be shown on a cable network not a regular prime time Network !!! God Friened Me: is a Great Series. Vert postiveand ftom the people I know count on watching this up lifting show. They should be running it now with this crazg virus time. I am hpping they change thier minds and run it next season.
