As an expert bodyguard, Christopher Chance often finds himself in some very life-threatening situations. Well, his Human Target TV show has just dodged a bullet — and will live to tell about it. The FOX series is being renewed for a second season.
Human Target stars Mark Valley as the protection specialist who integrates himself into the lives of his clients to become the target of whoever wants to see his clients dead. Chi McBride and Jackie Earle Haley co-star as his business associate and hired gun.
The TV series got off to a good start with a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.12 million viewers. In an attempt to get the show sampled (and seemingly to confuse viewers), FOX bounced it around the schedule until it finally settled into its regular Wednesday night timeslot.
The first season of Human Target finished off on April 14th and averaged a 2.23 rating in the demo and 7.75 million viewers. That’s not bad but not outstanding either.

It had been rumored, because FOX had lots of strong options for new shows, that the network would bring back either Lie to Me or Human Target next season.
Happily for fans, the network has decided to renew both. Human Target is expected to receive a 13 episode order for season two. Presumably, if those installments perform well enough, FOX will order more.
Behind the scenes, Matt Miller (from Chuck, another Warner Bros. show) will take over as showrunner for Human Target. The current showrunner, Jonathan Steinberg, will continue as executive producer.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that Human Target is coming back for season two? Anything you’d like to see happen? Any characters you’d like to see return?

The best show I ever watched. There is no dissecting of bodies, no violent crimes etc. I hope they will run for a long time.
our family just loves this show–while it is action, it also shows younger viewers the value of honor and responsibility to others–plus Mark is HOT!
I looked forward to Human Target every week. I was so glad to hear that it is coming back on for a second season. Mark Valley is also very easy to look at!!
Very glad that both Human Target and Lie to Me are coming back. Both are good shows, well executed, decent script writing, lots of action. So much better than the junky “reality shows” and the “blood and gut” shows that are b-o-r-i-n-g!!!!
Very happy Human Target to be renewed. Good action, decent scripts. Hope it stays up to stuff
This is great news! Love both of these shows….. so much better than all the reality stuff on the TV. Thanks for renewing both shows, FOX. You have 2 loyal views in both Human Target and Lie to Me.
Glad the show is staying with us for awhile longer………………like 5 yrs. or more…… LOVE THE SHOW
I started seeing this show twords the end of the season and i loved it!! its a great show, and a great show to replace 24!!
Im glad they renewed Human Target. Now that 24 is going to be off the air FOX will want to put something into the time slot on Monday night. I have a pretty good feeling that Human Target will be that show…
course they could try to move Bones or Fringe there and revamp both nights….
Human target is amazing. A mixture of serious 24 style action and a few comical moments here and there. It just needs a better time spot.
YES!!! Fineally Fox making some good decisions. Human Target and Lie to me are top notch and you renewed both. But I hope your not just gonna cancel them later. That was a step in the right direction. Fox don’t blow it.
Great… I love this show!!!
We are thrilled that Human Target will be back.
I’m very happy Human Target will be renewed; it’s great action and always new and interesting. Would like to see the Chances’ character explored more.
