On May 11th, the iZombie TV show on The CW was renewed for a fifth season, so it’s not exactly accurate to say it has been cancelled. It turns out though, that renewal was for a fifth and final season of the undead procedural from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas. This morning on social media, star Rose McIver confirmed there would be no season six of iZombie. The news broke at today’s CW Upfront presentation in New York.
A CW horror dramedy, iZombie stars McIver as zombie/medical examiner Liv Moore. The “rom-com-zom-dram” also stars Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley, and David Anders. When Liv eats the brains of a deceased person, she temporarily inherits some traits from the person and gains insight into how he or she died. Pretending that she has psychic abilities, Liv then uses this knowledge to help the police solve crimes.

Overall, today, The CW announced/confirmed that the upcoming installments of iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, will be their final seasons. While the iZombie fifth season renewal was just issued during the May 11th pre-Upfronts rush, both Jane the Virgin (season five) and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (season four) were picked up for the final seasons on April 2nd, when the network renewed the bulk of its shows.
This is something of a week of endings for McIver. She also played Tinker Bell on Once Upon a Time, which ends its seven season run on ABC, on Friday, May 18th.

Please don’t get rid of this. I mean it all sucks that their will be no more iZombie or Santa Clarita Diet. That BLOWS.
This is the only show of this type my wife will watch with me. Please keep it going so we can BOTH watch it together!
Sucks! I wish this could be on a larger platform because its amazing. What a shame stranger things, and izombie haven’t blown up as much as criminal minds or orange is the new black.

IZombie is one of our favorites, top notch humor, witty characters, fun scenarios, creative plotting … one of the very few shows I watch! Brilliant! Hard to believe it has any problems with ratings! Would be thrilled to see it keep going past the fifth season and certainly believe the writers could keep it interesting well into the future! I think it is terrible they are cancelling iZombie after such a short run. There is still so many story lines they can write about. Plus CW has other shows with lower ratings than iZombie and CW is keeping them. Tell me how that makes any sense???
Hopefully Netflix will save it and keep it going. Love this show and would really hate to see it end so soon

I’m in love with iZombie – it’s definitely one of my absolute favorite shows – I would hate to see it end this way.
I’m sad to see iZombie go, but maybe it’s time to end it while it’s still fairly popular.
I am sad to hear there will only be one more season of this show. but I feel like it is time. I am very sad to see it going but not sure where else they can take the story line.

I’d end it by having them find a cure. Liv & Major get back together. And the final scene would have Blaine & Don E., as the last 2 zombies in Seattle… toasting their future criminal enterprise…and plotting how to recreate a new Zombie virus.

Me too, guess we aren’t in the ratings. Bright side, cheaper to buy on BluRay! Super sad to see it end so quick though, tough act to follow! Hope Rob Thomas does more, great sense of humor tucked in brilliantly!
