It looks like the story of the Sutton clan has come to an end. ABC Family has quietly decided to cancel Lincoln Heights after four seasons.
Lincoln Heights tells the story of Officer Eddie Sutton (Russell Hornsby) who moves his family back to his old neighborhood. Other castmembers include Erica Hubbard, Nikki Micheaux, Rhyon Brown, Mishon Ratliff, Robert Adamson, and Michael Reilly Burke.
The TV show debuted on January 8, 2007 and the first season was successful enough to warrant a renewal by March. At that point, it was one of the cable channel’s higher performers in the key demographics.
While announcing that the second season would kick off in September 2007, ABC Family President Paul Lee said, “We really think we have something unique here… The fact that it’s an African American family drama alone separates it from the crowd, but its terrific cast and superb writing also make it truly special and perfect for ABC Family.”

Following season two, it took several months for ABC Family to decide to bring Lincoln Heights back for a third round. They finally did and that kicked off in September 2008. The audience grew and the show became the cable channel’s top performer among Females 12-34 and Female teens. It didn’t take as long to renew the series for year four.
Season four kicked off in September 2009. It ended up being one of the channel’s weaker programs of 2009, being outperformed by other ABC Family shows, including cancelled Kyle XY.
No specific reason was given for the Lincoln Heights cancellation. However, though it’s been favored by some critics, the series has never been a big hit for the cable channel and has only been given 10 episode renewals each season.
What do you think? Are you upset or surprised that the series has been cancelled? Do you think the last episode of Lincoln Heights is a worthwhile series finale?

they should have at least decided this before last season started so they could have actually made an ending for it. ABCfamily always ends their shows unexpectedly and they ruin them that way. it’s retarted. what they did with Kyle XY was the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.
I think they should bring it back it was a very good n understanding show to everyone they should not cancle LH. On da real suwu
This has been a great disappointment to the loyal fans in my family and friends circle, to hear of the cancellation of Lincoln Heights show. Lincoln Heights to us, was like a more realistic downhome version of the Cosby Show. We love both shows. The show must go on . Thank you.

Lincoln Heights was a very good show and if you don’t want the show they should sale the show to another network like tv one. it’s doing really good on tv right so let them pick up the 5th season.
why are yall canceld the show is so great. please do not cancled show
I enjoyed Lincoln Heights, thoroughly. Although there was drama, it was manageable and not “ghetto. I did, however, have a serious problem with the found money episodes. There is no way that I would turn in a bag of money left on my porch, muchless help the little hoodlum ingrate who burglarized my home and terrorized my family, find out if it belonged to her family and write her a check for it. I found storylines like that to be UNREAL. Likewise, to just smooth over the fact that the daughter’s teenage boyfriend helped himself to it during an earthquake… Read more »
You know what this is so crazy!!!!! PEOPLE LOVE LINCOLN HEIGHTS!!!!! At least consider season five if not only for a better finale!! The importance of an African American family sticking together through various trials is important and warrants serious consideration to remain on television.
I really enjoyed watching Lincoln Heights. This show should not be cancelled. I am tired of black people only being in comedies. I think a family-oriented drama that feature a black family is very important and should remain on television.
I have been waiting around to hear the announcement of the new season of Lincoln Heights for awhile now so decided to finally look online to find this article on it. I am so upset. I really looked forward to watching it again. I’m one who’s really glued to The Secret Life of an American Teenager, but definitely have to say that I look even more forward to watching Lincoln Heights. It did give a lot of realistic meaning to what really happens in life for many people even if their not from African American decent. I guess it annoys… Read more »
WHOEVER CAME UP WITH THE IDEA TO CANCEL THIS SHOW IS A COMPLETE AND UTTER A**.THEY LOVE TO CANCEL THE BLACK SHOWS THAT GIVE OUT POSITIVE MESSAGES AND GIVES US A LOOK AT REAL LIFE…..THESE NON AFRICAN AMERICAN SHOWS LAST FOREVER AND THEY LACK MEANING!WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?
I think if ABCfamily had to have stayed on channel 20 for our viewing area on regular basic cable it would not have lost so many viewers. Neither would KyleXY or any of the family channel shows. In a time like this (recession) no one was really willing to switch their cable because of the prices going up. Just about everyone I talked to said that they watch the ABCfamily channel but when it was cancelled, they did not follow the shows anymore and could not upgrade to better cable services. ABCfamily lost out big time when it moved. We… Read more »
I don’t think the show should be cancelled. I looked forward to watching it every week
I think LH was a good sitcom TV show, every Monday when it came on I ran to my TV just to see it. Yea (Charles and Cassie) needed to grow up, but hey it was just showing that teenagers can love just as hard as an adult. I don’t think that LH should be cancelled I think that they should bring it back for a season 5.
Some of ya’ll need to get real! The cancelling of LH likely had to do with race but not for the reasons ya’ll have highlighted. ABC did not take the time or effort to develop that show into a realistic portrayal of a black family. The writing and acting (not all of the characters btw) sucked! PERIOD! You guys should have been complaining since season 3. That show began to lose viewers because it started to become too campy, it lacked realistic complex storylines and we didn’t see enough growth in the characters (Charles and Cassie in particular). I’m surprised… Read more »
I liked the few episodes of Lincoln Heights that I saw.
I think canceling the show was a HUGE mistake and instead they should have at least put it on regular TV. I think that it would have probably done better on there because the audience would have probably related more to this show than those who have cable. I my self don’t have cable but I found the show on Hulu and became addicted and now I as fan feel that I was left hanging because they didn’t even finish off Season 4 on Hulu at least, IDK on cable. However back to the point, the show was about a… Read more »
